Well, we've got "Doctor Who" to help us for a while.

Whew! What a great episode! Judgement Day.

I wonder if the Baltar #6 will continue now that the real #6 is here.

Next Question: How many Base Stars do they need?

So...the next season starts with the ships staffed by minimal crews.

Obviously, a "rescue mission" needs to be mounted.

What made Caprica Six and Tyrol's Sharon decide to be tyrants, after all?

Is this how Baltar joins the Cylons? (Reluctantly at first, of course.)

Holy Sheat that was a good episode. I thought at first it was a dream sequence. WOW....totally took me off guard. Good thing I tivo'd it.

Pres. Roslyn has her proof now that #6 is there with Baltar. I think she turns the table on him and he ends up with the Cylons.

A couple of questions thoughts to ponder for the next damn 6 months...

#1 I think that Pegasus will purposely get destropyed in the rescue mission in order to buy time or help in the mission.

#2 Who was looking for Starbuck, thats a character I have never seen, could it be her offspring from the time she got captrued on Caprica.

#3, Number 8 Previously Pregnant Sharon is probably on Galatica. I think Adama tells her and whatever the heck his name is about the baby actually alive on New Caprica so she will help them in the rescue mission. It could get hairy because they lied to her....this whole question could lead to a very good storyline.

#4 Good jump by the writers to hook the Chief up with the woman and make him President of the Union.

And lastly, the end of the show just really showed how fragile Baltar's mind is. He "screwed" the colonists twice, once on Caprica and once on New Caprica, I think it will eventually result in his continued mental breakdown. Like how he was sleeping with all the women, they really went far to Sleeze up his character....

I can't wait for all of the good discussions on BSG....

Bill

#2 - That is the 'Philosopher' that Starbuck tortured in season 1. It's also the model that Adama fought on the supply depot during the mini-series/Pilot.

Well, gotta say I did not like it at all...Never thought I'd say that of a galactica episode... Well, the last 20 minutes anyway...

Not so much the new caprica development (though I am not all that crazy about that) but I did not expect to lose an entire year... Feels contrieved to me, all those characters who did stuff that we will learn about piecemeal later on.. What did starbucks do ? (abandon her post I guess), Baltar's depravation, Chief as a union leader ? Dunno, I don't like it..

Seems to me the writers could not outdo their previous 2 season cliff hangers, so this one goes too far... Why don't we skip straight to the part where they reach earth ?

First time I won't be anxiously waiting for next season.... I'll watch for sure, but...ehh, it jumped the shark for me...

I disagree Greg.

I think the writers have proven time and time again that there is nothing 'sacred' on this show.

I think it was a stroke of genius.

Fair enough... At least that means they made some people happy (just not me) ! I don't why but it does not do it for me... I liked the exodus - cylons on their ass concept, but now the cylons are getting all wishy-washy, give them a truce for a year, come back... The first shows were gritty, on the run, 33 seconds at a time, and poof, now we lose en entire year of the plot that will be painfully revealed little bit by little bit... Dunno... I guess I prefered the space battles plot to the refugee camp story, but I hope they make a good show of it next season regardless... Glad you enjoyed it !!!

I think this sets up for some even grittier shows. Two battlestars, way undercrewed, attempt to rescue the human race. After that, I think "New Caprica" will be regarded as a fasle start....the search for the "promised land" will resume.

I'm with legion - the 'one year later' idea shows that they humans have become compacent about the cylon (minimal crew on the battlestars). Also shows that the planet, while able to maintain life, isn't ideal.

Wonder if Ander's sickness has anything to do with his exposure to nuclear fallout while on Caprica.

I am beginning to wonder if they will have Baltar swing over to the cylon camp - maybe he'll stay with the humans and conspire against them - being forced to do so by the toasters...

Also wonder what these cylons have in store for the humans - will the tables be turned and the humans become the slaves of the cylons?

Many questions and many months to wait...

-Z

PS: legion - I think I can safely say that I win the 'is Baltar a cylon' bet - he is definately NOT a cylon. Two proofs:
1. The cylons told him he must surrender.
2. When he was having sex with the other cylon (before he took the oath of presidency) his back did not glow red.
What do you think?

Well, it's inconclusive, since we've never seen the back of a Cylon male when he's having sex and having an orgasm, only females.

Hmmm. Just saw the episode. I was quite disappointed. The show may have jumped the shark for me. However, I am holding out hope that it is all a dream sequence and that Baltar is having a "Laura Roslyn" moment while sleeping on his desk....a premonition of what his presidency would be like.

I find it odd that the mindset of the colonists can go to complacency so quickly, especially when a cylon saboteur blows up a nuke in the middle of the fleet in the previous scene!!!! Bad writing. People would be screaming to find out the facts...and of course the facts are that Baltar gave them the nuke.

The pokes at the Bush were not subtle enough to be effective. Everything from the subject of a stolen election to Baltar saying "I don't need their advice...I am the President." and "Has there been one cylon attack since I took office.". All a too close to real politics and too heavy handed to be entertaining. I am not tuning in to be lectured.

Furthermore, the borrowed scene of the Toasters marching through the colony was a bit too much like the Nazi's marching through Paris. Good for the writers for taking a cue from history....but it was too easily identified. And unrealistic. I can suspend my disbelief when it comes to killer robots and space fleets, but not when it comes to human reactions. If a bunch of terminators showed up on my doorstep, I'd run for the hills. I wouldn't hang out and wait for their parade.

Also there are other lapses which point to a dream sequence.

1. A year goes by. They know that the colonies are no longer occupied, but during that time, nobody wanted to jump back and pick up some goodies? Cultural treasures? Weapons? Medical supplies? What have they been doing for a year?

2. Nobody wants to get some revenge on the cylons and go toaster hunting? Please!!!! If you'd just lost EVERYTHING, you'd want to go out and get some. All of this is too convenient. Good for a dream, but not convincing for a whole series.

3. During the intervening year, nobody got curious about WHERE the cylons have gone after evacuating the colonies? Why haven't there been any recon missions to find out? It would be a top priority.

4. Adama's Mustache- Too cheesy. They can't keep Olmos in that 'stache for the rest of the show.

5. WHAT ABOUT THE PROPHESY? It's clear New Caprica is not the promised land. "The Leader" did not die, before getting there. Both Roslyn and Baltar are alive, so neither of them qualify.

However, there are signs that it is not:

1. Starbuck saying to the Chief "We'll do what we've always done...fight them until we can't"....Which implies the writers have some big stuff planned.

If it is a dream sequence, the show is STILL jumping. Dream sequences don't work. i.e. Dallas

Either way, I'm not liking it.

I like the theory, but that would be an incredibly cheesy way to end the season...

Just listened to the podcast. It's no dream. We are stuck with the mustache.

BTW: Anyone notice that Baltar had a picture of himself on the wall of the "oval office"? Pretty funny.

The producers also said that the "cylons marching in scene", was taken directly from the Nazis marching through Paris.

So...it has just occured to me:

1. Chief is now married to Cali.
2. Who shot the Chief's version of Boomer: Cali.
3. Who just showed up again: Boomer.

That's gonna make an interesting plot.
