No cylons this episode either. Nor the last episode.
What we need here is some toaster shredding! While the Apollo call girl thingy was a hard sell, I like the fact that they were showing the dark, underbelly of the fleet. Again, my belief is that sci-fi should be dark & imperfect. -Z.

I disagree. I think the 'old' Apollo is a Cylon.
It is also obvious that he wanted the black market boss dead. Is it just me, or is it funny that the black market boss, was black...

OK...I was thinking about how I would re-write this episode. Actually it would be a couple of episodes, but would achieve the same effect of sullying Apollo and creating confict among the characters.
1. Adama suspects Baltar. He instructs Apollo to stay close to the President and Baltar and find out all he can by whatever means necessary. Because Apollo is the Presidents Special Advisor on Military Affairs, he is perfect for this. 2. Starbuck realizes that her affection for Apollo is likely to go unrequitted. Her eye turns towards BILLY. 3. Apollo of course is interested in DEE, even though it is well known that she and Billy are an item. Add alchohol and... 4. Dee becomes obsessed with Apollo while maintaining the appearance of a relationship with Billy. 5. Apollo is briefing the president on something or other. The president, now feeling physically well for the first time in months, can't help but put on some moves. Apollo is not adverse to this. She is, afterall and attractive older woman, and his father's words ring in his ears. "Get info by whatever means necessary.". 6. Billy walks in on the Pres and Lee in flagrante delicato. His feelings of loyalty to the president are great, but he knows he can't keep this secret. So, he tell the only person he can trust: DEE. 7. Dee flips her lid at the thought of Lee and the President. At a ceremony on the hanger bay, the President is addressing the Galactica crew. Dee pulls her pistol and shoots, attempting to assasinate the Pres. However, she misses and shoots Billy instead, wounding him critically. Dee is dragged down and taken to the brig. 8. Starbuck is assigned to interrogate Dee, just like she interrogated the cylon last year. Of course, she isn't going to go easy, because she has a thing for Billy. 9. From his bed in the hospital, Billy tells Adama what he saw. Adama, as has been hinted at in recent episodes, may have a thing for the Pres himself. The tension between him and Lee is back. You can take it from there. So what do your think???..... am I a geek yet?

Good episode last night. I was concerned that it had jumped the shark, but looks like they are back on track.

How did Scar get his nickname? Sure, his "head" was all cracked and beat up in the closeups, but the only thing the BSG crew saw of him was on those grainy recon tapes.
Just nitpicking - I agree, it was much better than the last two. I just discovered the Podcasts - anyone listening to them?

So who else thinks Scar was the raider that Starbuck gutted, and flew home last season?

BTW: The 'black market' episode's podcast starts with "I really hated that episode." He said it was too much like all the other TV shows out there - too predictable, too 'cookie cutter.' At least the producer/creator is honest and is willing to admit if things don't go as well as planned. I liked this last episode. Raw and edgy, like it should be. The ending with Starbuck naming all the Viper pilots they lost was moving. Behind that cold facade is a sensitive person. -Z-man.

During one of the podcasts he hinted that the terrorists would use the atomic bomb that Baltar had given them to "great effect" during the season finale.
My guess: Pegasus buys it from the terrorist nuke. That ends the Pegasus story arc and eliminates the problem of "Battlestar Galactica and Pegasus"

Starbuck was using Pappy Boyington's Thumb over the sun technique to find planes flying at you out of the sun.
There were several episodes with an English speaking Japanese pilot who taunted Boyington. There were lots of episodes with 'Jim" 2nd in command and Pappy getting drunk and fighting, especially early on.

These 'internal only' episodes are usually used to get a series back on budget. They use existing sets and stock footage for outside shots.

Tom was one of my favorite characters.
I think this and the last episode set up a Starbuck/Apollo/Dualla love triangle. It also ended with a very still pregnant Sharon, leaving the possibility that she had been "terminated". It also showed that the general populace now knows that Cylons can look like humans...

Like an hour-long "Die Hard," but without Hans Gruber's cool accent. Pretty formulaic, but it's a formula because it works time after time. The acting and writing are always so good, they can get away with it. I liked it a lot.

Another thing I liked about last Friday's show was that the death of Billy was totally a surprise. There was no ads toting: "And this week on BSG, a KEY MEMBER DIES. Who will it be? Starbuck? Apollo? Adama? Tune in Friday night to find out." Although the setup for Billy's death was in the episode, it was still not over-hyped.
Hmm - makes me wonder if we'll see Billy again - perhaps there's another Billy model out there.... Yep - maybe Billy was a cylon. There, I said it. -Z.
