Guess i'll have to go find it on you tube just so i can say i saw it. Did they ever even show what happened to Helo? Last i remember seeing him he was shot and Athena said if she left him he'd bleed out. Then i don't remember ever seeing him again. One thing is for sure, BSG did a horrible job of showing how a military organization would deal with the whole situation, especailly as the show progressed. Letting known traitors, criminals, and mutineers back into the fold time after time would just never happen. These people would be made extreme examples of. The military- any military- is about discipline first, second and third. |

The producer said in an interview after the show ended that she was in fact an angel. Good job telling us in an interview that no one is going to see instead of telling us in the damn show... The 6/baltar "angels" they never explained at all. Total loose end. Starbuck was not a harbinger of doom, but of salvation- total contradiction WTF did hera really have to do with anything at all? Starbuck was the real savior. That entire aspect of the plot was totally stupid. How did the "final 5 cylons" come to look like people? How were they even cylons AT ALL? That entire aspect of the show was never adequately explained at all. Why the hell did they waste about 1 hour of the final eposide on stupid and totally meaningless flashbacks. Did i really need to see starbuck and apollo getting drunk and almost fraking in the fnale? Wouldn't this have been much much better character development for MUCH earlier in the series? I personally think the writers just ran out of good ideas after the 3rd season, and the result is what we saw in seasons 4 and 5- total innane nonsense. The finale was a total train wreck. |

I agree with some of the points that m21sniper has made, though I don't feel like the last episode was total crap. I think it's pretty obvious that they shifted gears in a big way during the writers strike, and didn't seem to have enough time to end it properly. Maybe the movie will fill in some of the blanks?
That said...everyone should change the channel to Showtime and watch Dexter. It's a GREAT show. Catch up on the first 3 seasons, and I think the new season starts in April.

A new show?! I'm trying to think about how productive I'll be with the extra time. This is the last season for Lost as well.

I'm down to basic cable now, no more Sci-Fi channel.
It was fun while it lasted, just waited for BSG to end.

Just saw the final episodes.
I give it a B+. Things that were done poorly for me 1. Cavill shooting his head off. Somebody else could have done it for him. Ellen or Tigh would have been good candidates. 2. Kara Thrace is NOT the harbinger of death. While she maybe an angel that can disappear into vapor, no attempt was made to explain her new viper or how the original Kara Thrace ended up crash landed on Earth #1. 3. It took Galactica one jump to get to the Cylon Colony and it took Boomer more than 12. I guess they could explain this away if it had been said during the series that Galactica had DEFINITELY been upgraded with Cylon engines...but it was never said definitely. Small point. 4. Wouldn't the rest of the Cylon basestars come looking for them? I kept expecting the Basestars to show up at the final battle only to be conveniently sucked into the black hole. 5. Never concluded what happened to Kara Thrace's presumably harvested eggs from the episode "The farm". 6. It never was explained who annihilated the skin-job cylons on Earth #1. Was it machine cylons rebelling against skin-job cylons? Or was it just your usual US/USSR type nuclear war? They never say. 7. The end up on earth 150,000 years ago. You'd be dealing with Austropithecines or some other proto-human, not "Tribesmen". I doubt any of the crew would want to marry into that family. Small point, but a funny one. Things that went well: 1. Everything else, especially the final battle, which was predictable but still enjoyable.

In hindsight, while I enjoyed another few episodes feeding my BSG addiction, I almost would have prefered if they fleshed out the original ending with the wasted earth... then stayed there & rebuilt (and became our ancestors)... To me the last season alternated slow and useless episodes (from a storytelling standpoint) and total brain dumps that you had to watch twice at minimum... there was no flow... Anyway, I'll go back and rewatch the first 2 seasons sometime, I need my fill of space battles... |

I was under the impression that there was a cycle that lasted about 2000 years:
Humans invent Cylons, Cylons rebel and attempt to wipe out humans, Cylons evolve into human forms, Cylons learn ressurection, humans exact their revenge. It seems these elements played out over and over, but not necessarily always in the same order.

Also, I think Ander's theme song should not have been Dylan's "All along the Watch Tower", But rather Pink Floyd's "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"

That entire aspect of the story was terribly explained and as a result just made absolutely no sense. And someone please explain to me how Starbuck was the harbinger of doom when she is the one that saved them all? Total silliness. |

Wow, I have only now become aware that there is/was a "Battlestar Galactica" TV show other than the 1978 series with Lorne Greene.
Somehow the original "Galactica" gets merged in my memory with "Space: 1999", "Silent Running", and various other forgettable sci-fi of the decade. Basically, in the 1970s, there was "Star Wars", and then there was everything else. I assume that, everytime my ears or eyes register "Battlestar Galactica", my brain intercepts and destroys the message, saying you don't want to revisit that crap. Thus I have missed what sounds, from this thread, like a sort of interesting TV show.
