I dated many women who were less succesful then me, and made a small fraction of what I did. Then a met my wife, a successful attourney who made slightly more then me, and I asked her to marry me. I think she was the first woman who didn't look at me primarily for my earning potential, and was confident in herself as a person. Plus she wasn't a b*tch like the others either. ;-)

I think I could be with a 'successful' woman... but I think someone got it right when he said that 'successful' should mean having a full life, both career and home, and balancing them evenly.
Sure, I'd date a woman that makes a lot more money than me. I don't care how much she makes, but when it comes to a wife, I would prefer a woman that has a decent income, because I don't think I could support a whole family on mine. I could not however, be with a woman that sacrifices everything in her life to get ahead on the corporate ladder. ETA: The young lady I'm trying to hook up with now is a CPA, and probably makes a considerable amount more money than I do.

hell yes! but only if she was hot. successful ugly women are not attractive to me. so basically, beauty and success.
up till now, i seem to hook up with hot women with absolutely no drive at all. i mean permanent college, dead end jobs, party girls. this one girl wanted to move out to cali and live with me. i asked her,"what the hell are you gonna do?" she answered me with a question, "why, how much do you make?" i dropped her ass off at the SF airport 7 hours early for her flight. never talked to her again. i do miss the things she can do with her..............i now refer to her as "stalker #2"

Women are insane. Not just insane, but insane in the most bizarre fashion. And I think perhaps the social order they find themselves in has a lot to do with that. I cringe when I notice evidence that females place their sense of self-worth almost entirely in how they look. they think of themselves as bait. They're parasites, trying to attract a host. I mean this in the nicest and most respectful way.
And successful women make me wonder if perhaps they've busted out of that perceptual trap.

I quoted you without adding any words - only "deleting" the words that were clearly misplaced by you in your original comments. Maybe you could say I took what you said out of context but at least I didn't make it up. flame on brother. And as a group who are we kidding; Of course we can accept women who make more than us - it's typically us asking how much they make an hour to see if we can cover it. Well, maybe not all of us but definitely Tabs, Sup, Island and Mule.

No flames from me, Mikey. I am just glad you noticed. I wanted to play the game, though I bent a rule, sure, but I was short on time. This darned phone on my desk keeps ringing, along with the one on my belt.

My wife & I did the dual career thing for 25 years or so, she as a teacher, I was a manager/sales rep for a dairy. Downsizing came along, with a nice package for me.
Now, she is the bread winner, I am the bread-baker. Through the winter, I keep house & look after the animals, (her horses, dogs & cats). In the summer, I work part time at the Annapolis Royal visitor information center & tidal power plant, as a guide. (By the way, if you make it to Nova Scotia, drop in at the only tidal power generating plant in North America. Look for the older guy, with gray hair. I'll show you around and have a great time explaining the place.) The new arrangement has worked out well. I have almost no stress in my life, (she brings home enough for both of us), and have been able to take over the house so she doesn't have to worry about that. I couldn't have handled it 25 years ago, but now, its great. Les

my ex made more money than me. That wasn't the issue.
I like 'em smart. Smart ones are often sucessful. But not always. It is a double-edged sword though. To be sucessful, women often have to adopt a persona that doesn't really fly well in a relationship. And if they are not driven and/or sucessful, there is an inequity (with the smart ones) that causes a defensive posture and leads to self-fufilling prophecies of "I'm not good enough for you." Insane? Yes. Indespensible? Probably. Oh well... |

Women are whacked.
Real is better than fake; fake is better than small. Flat chested girls need love too.... Well - I must put this disclaimer. I recognized in my wife early on a certain lack of crazy. I tested it a bit too and still she hid it well. At first I thought it simply wasn't there but I have come to realized in the years we've spent together, the years that I have spent observing her (as if in a zoo sometimes) that she *HAS* the crazy but chooses not to use it. I can see the choice being made sometimes too...It's like watching my infant son develop his problem solving skills. They make the same face almost; more often than not she chooses not to be crazy. I on the other hand....well I'm an instigator and I get what I deserve.

On that note I have an oldie but goody:
Q: Why did cavemen drag their women by the hair instead of the feet? A: So they wouldn't fill up with dirt.

if a guy has a prob with a $successful woman it's the guy's prob. Chances are it's a routine prob with many things. You want to test your ego, try living with a real battle hardened MASH nurse that wants action before she gets pounded. $$ = bs.
Bottom line is read bell's timeless words again.
