Potty Training!!!

I just went thru this with my 3 yr old, (soon to be 4 next month).

I took it day to day. Everytime I had to go to the bathroom, I would take him in, and showed him how daddy does it.I didnt teach him the sitting down and peeing thing, all 3 were taught to stand and pee. Some kids will learn the first couple of times (as my other 2 did), or they will take a little longer, like this one did. Just be patient, it will all work out.

We tried during the summer with our daughter who was a about 2 and half at the time and it didn't work after a couple of days. She would pee on the toilet, if you set her down at the right time, but still had accidents. We decided to stop trying and went back to diapers.

Fast forward to this Christmas, we had a 3 hour flight to VA to see my family, so we didn't want to risk having an accident airborne. We talked about getting "big girl underpants" for a while, and the day we got back from Christmas (the 30th of December) she came in and said she wanted "Dora" big girl panties and wanted to use the potty. I went out and got a bunch of them, and she only had 2 accidents the first week. Once at night and once during the day. She has even gotten the hang of number 2 on the potty by now as well.

Its great! I hated changed poop diapers as she got older. I don't care what anyone says, when they are younger the poopy is not like an adults, once she started eating normal food, it smelled horrible.

My wife did pack a couple of small bags with changes of clothes that we put in each car just in case we have an accident though.

My wife is currently pregnant with our 2nd, and we had the ultrasound today (she's 21 weeks along) and we decided to find out the sex. Looks like my daughter will have a little brother in May, so I am excited.

Our third is 8 weeks old. He's now in the stage of alternating constipation with explosive diarrhea.

His last expulsion saw a wall of poop half way up his back.

Sounded like one of teenerted's farts from back in the day...after many beers and maybe some refried beans mixed in.

I was once changing my second oldest when he decided it would be a great time to push out a little more...in the form of a flying turd that hit me in the chest. I don't think my wife quit laughing for at least an hour. I'll be saving that story for when he brings his first GF home.

LOL.. We used to keep a stack of washclothes to cover the water fountain on my sons changing table. Been hit in the face, chest, all over the walls, you name it...

My son puked on my face (specifically my eye) when he was about 5 months old. He also hit me with a good stream of urine at about 4 weeks.

My daughter did him one better and actually puked in my mouth when she was 5 months old. She has yet to pee or poop on me though.

Amazing how things that would have grossed you out prior to kids have no effect on you after kids...

BTW, we are still plugging away at it, no joy yesterday, he did have a big accident in his pants but nothing in the toilet. Still just putting him on the potty when he wants to go, no pressure.

I have a picture somewhere. My wife happened to be getting ready to take a pic of me and the little tyke when he puked on my face. My wife snapped a pic and laughed her arse off after that.

I know this is an old thread, but it made me feel a little better.

My son is 4 and still craps in his pants. I am going to stop potty training and just focus on him changing his own diaper.

I never new how stubborn a little boy could be.

Our (mildly) autistic son still wears a diaper at 4 years and two months. He is starting to pee in the toilet but it is quite irregular for the time being. We will follow a no-diapers policy this summer at the beach and hope for the best.

A friend of mine is trying to potty train his grandson. Hilarious stuff...

Give him some time. He will get it done. We have a 5 and a 3 year old. The little one trained himself watching his big brother. He was asking us to help him pee like his older brother at 2 1/2. The older one wanted to pee like a big boy on his own after seeing how I do it. All because of his little brother. He did not want to be in diapers any longer because that's for babies. He was 3 at the time. We did freeballing with the older one. He hated it. Just be ready to clean up after him.

I'm at work and I just talked to my wife, I think my son has broken her will. She left his pants off after 20 minutes on the potty with no results, he went to his room and lock the door. She got the pull-up on him in time.

I really think he would hold it until he hurt himself if we keep pushing.

Learn to let go. If he's not ready, so what? He won't likely be crapping his pants in high school and you won't be changing diapers forever. Believe it or not, potty training failures are tough on kids. They feel like they have disappointed you. Patience, grasshopper.

We bribed our daughter with M&Ms. I remember being against the idea at the time, but seems no long term damage was done. After she had made it to the potty a few times using the pull-ups, we told her she had earned her "big girl" underwear. She had a single accident after graduating from diapers, but I remember thinking at the time that she was just curious to see what happened.

Try letting him stand up. My son would not pee if he was sitting but if he could stand and aim at the cherios floating in the toilet. Toilet training, by far the hardest thing I taught my son. Good luck.

Get out of the bathroom and let him pee on a tree. Kids love it.
