Not a huge fan of his vacuum, although some are.

This on the other hand, I find interesting...

It's very cool, but also not cheap. Personally, I find it worth every penny.

He constantly mentions "buffeting." Can he tell me that it won't blow papers off the desk as a regular fan does?

Personally, I don't feel any buffeting from conventional fans. Looks to me like something the Sharper Image would sell.

It's about $280 overpriced IMO.

I have had a $20 Wal-Mart box fan next to my bed for 12 years. It's 60% for the noise and 40% for the cool breeze.

What he doesn't tell you is that there is a conventional fan in the base. He simply crafted a circle with the same profile as an airplane wing. It accelerates the air around it while drowning out most of the noise of the conventional fan. Clever, but not worth 15 times the price of a conventional fan that can do the same work.

geez, that guy has a PhD in Buzz-words and BS... I mean 'danger of spinning fan blades'? A bladed fan that size could be moving very slowly to match the wimpy flow of those "Aircraft wing, multiplying mixed-flow impeller ...fans"

"buffeting" comes from turbulent flow . . . like you will find when air starts moving fast. ...like from a fan that can move a lot of air.

Jeff's attached vid shows a series of Dyson fans all cranked up ... and how fast does the balloon move? meh.

I love the commercial for the Dyson Ball where he compares it to a vacuum with solid axles and claims his vacuum turns better. The problem is....I've never seen a vacuum in my life with each wheel joined to a solid axle. Every vacuum I've ever seen has four wheels that move independently, rendering his whole argument for his overpriced contraption moot.

He didn't even come up with the idea of "spinning dust out of the air". He saw a vacuum system at a sawmill that did this and just copied and miniaturized it. Now, I think there is some merit in a bagless vacuum, but most of his ideas since have been solving problems that don't really exist.

I was someplace and they had his AirBlade hand dryer in the bathroom. I was impressed how good it worked compared to standing there and wringing your hands with a standard hot air dryer.

I'm on my second dyson Vacuum. The first was good and lasted until we had an idiot show up to clean our house. She broke several parts trying to pry it apart.

We just got the top of the line Dyson canister vac. I don't think I'd have paid $600, but we got it on clearance at Sears for $300 so it was a smokin' deal. It REALLY sucks. But when you're talking vacuums, that's good. Still, I think some of the Miele features would have been nice to have. But, it's hard to argue a REALLY good Dyson for $300 vs a great Miele for $1000. I suppose at least it's not a $1900 Kirby.

The fan is stupid, solves problems no one gives a damn about.

That being said, his company flat out rocks at marketing...well played.

They're at all the highway rest stations around here - I love them! So much faster, less wasteful than paper towels. Hell, I want one for my house!

faster, than paper towels? I don't think so. Walking out while drying with a towel is faster. ...And, if there is a door handle that needs be grabbed on the way out....

I also see the Dysons as being ergonomically awkward.

..and then there's the advantage of paper towels to be used to blot up a coffee stain.

I'm on my second Dyson too. When I got the first one it was the only bagless vacuum on the market. It worked great until someone tried to use it to clean up drywall dust. The second one is five years old and still works great. I tried one of the balls and they do handle easier. The hand motion needed to turn it is smooth and natural. I'm not rushing out to buy one though.

Ah. The Dysons do work faster on front and back of the hands, but noticed the in between of my fingers are still wet. ...But at least they are expensive ~$1200

I do. It's most obvious when you sleep with a fan blowing directly on you, from maybe 6-8 feet away. I wouldn't call it annoying, exactly, but it does make it harder to fall asleep.

I don't know if I'd ever shell out this much money for a fan, but I'd like to try one.

not all fans are the same. a ceiling fan can be moving more air, more gently. (than the Dyson)

OTOH, the big 15$ box fans have a horrible, turbulence inducing grate on the front and back. maybe annoying, but turbulent air is more 'mixing' and can aid in heat transfer (keeping you cool)

My biggest complaint with conventional fans is the noise. I can't tell from the video how noisy this thing is. BTW doesn't that seem like a really crappy video? He's talking about "These vents down here" and the camera is showing a picture of his face. Then he's pointing something out and it's showing his shirt.

A lot of restaurants around here have them. First seen one a few yrs ago down in FL. they work great. Would get one for the house it they weren't so much$$

I noticed one in a store the other day , that is a copy of the Blade. It was made by one of the other hand dryer co's.
