My bike stuff isn't brightly colored...well, the jerseys are (the better to see you with), my bike shorts are black but I DO look like a snake that ate a rat!...or a watermelon! Just trying to get into shape without pounding the crap outta my olsass knees. I surrender my card during my rides!

biking in spandex shorts is only permitted if either mud or blood is present somewhere on your body.

Cooking (AKA searing flesh with fire) is a man's job. If you want to keep your card, skip the KY, go for the Astro-Glide.

My the way, if you have no sense of humor about your own "manliness"? - BIG man card violation.

Real men are full spectrum; we've got a sense of humor ESPECIALLY about ourselves.
i'm all for having fun.

for the record: i'm not gay, i have friends that are, and while i don't agree with the choice/lifestyle/whatever you like to call it, its not up to me to tell them how to be. maybe the miata's not for you, and maybe you never need to drive one to find out, but don't go bashing on 'em just because you're ignorant! (the comments about the turbocharged ones being the only ones worth owning are quite possibly the dumbest thing i've ever heard)

anyhow, i've got quite a sense of humor about my manliness. in fact, there are many occasions which i will poke fun at it - but for some reason i've got a soft spot when someone refers to the miata as a 'girly car' or to say you should have your proverbial 'man card' revoked due to owning/driving one.

back when they came out, my mom was always saying what a death trap they were blah blah - i didn't know jack about cars but it made sense since they were so small. years and years later, i went poking around for a decent convertible - and since the miata was RWD it won out over the rabbit/golf/cabrio. since driving it my perception has COMPLETELY changed about miatas, and in fact the dudes racing spec miata have some of the hugest manlinesses around... they are crazy!

so, to add another man-card violation/amend the one you proposed...

driving a sports car (MIATA especially, since the engine is tiny) with an automatic transmission (obviously given that you aren't missing a leg of have some debilitating injury/war wound etc.)

it really kills me to see 996TT's with craptronic transmissions

buying a freaking sweet car just for status (with an automatic just so you can drink your coffee while talking on your bluetooth headset and wearing that spandex tron suit) = definite man-card violation

Oh oh Mike, you're sounid s little defensive here....

Okay, I take it back. Miata's are the HEIGHTH of manliness. Body builders, lumberjacks and merchant marines the world over are standing in line for them

I'm kidding, chillax.

So...wear an orange sweatshirt, long jeans and tennies...ride an old balloon tire one speed bike with a coaster brake. Use a pants leg clip to keep cloth clear of the chain. At least you won't look like one of the wannabe Lance Armstrong idiots. You'll still get the cardio workout you crave while daring to be different. I mean, just look at those guys! They're a joke!

Funny, that outfit and equipment description would make me look exactly like the goofy ass middle aged old man I am trying to avoid looking like!

Oh well, you're in Oregon, you'll never have to see me. For the rest of you, I circle the Rose Bowl a few afternoons a week. While laughing uncontrollably and pointing try not to steer into me and run my butt over!

Geez, we've got some serious Miata sensitivity issues here. . . Let's all have a group hug. Awwwwww.

When did I ever say the turbo ones were the only ones worth having? I said I'd actually like to get my hands on one, that's not the same thing as saying "they're the only ones worth having". And I believe I clarified/apologized for the Miata stereotype after that anyway, but selective post-reading I guess. Cripes. Lighten up.

FWIW I do see a lot of "light-in-the-loafers" guys driving Miatas around these parts though, but a lot of 'em also drive BMW 3-series too. I see a lot of Miatas at the track too. Some dudes take 'em pretty seriously and that's fine. The guy I bought my Mustang GT from years ago sold it to buy a Miata. Fine, happy? There are some guys (real guys, with actual balls) that drive Miatas too. Good enough?

Sheesh. I'll drive your Miata, you can drive my Benz and afterwards we can enjoy a beer together sometime. Man make-up. Fine?

I stand by my statement Mike, Miata + 50% more power is ok. Otherwise, we'll just make it a minor infraction.

Sports cars with an automatic, now that is a good one.
Drinking coffee with anything in it other than coffee.
Paying someone to work on your house or car, regardless of whether or not you have the skills to do so. Stubborness and brute force can accomplish anything.

Yep, coffee (and women) need to be black, strong, bold and able to burn the hair off my chest.

Actually any guy that actually wears loafers should be given an infraction as well. Possible exception if you have nothing else and have to go to a wedding or funeral.

Crying at a wedding - 90 day suspension without appeal.

Crying at a divorce - immediate revocation.
Laughing at a divorce or yelling "yippee!!!" - reinstatement.

I got a question fro you guys who are anti-cooking/cleaning/laundry... WTF did you go straight from your mom to having your wife taking care of you? Some men don't marry right out of high school and actually have to learn to clean up after themselves!

Laundromats are great places to meet chicks BTW... and you can check out their underwear to check their level of freakyness.

I did my own laundry since I was 10 or so. I can cook and clean. But now my wife does those things. In fact I taught her how to do laundry as her mother always did hers.

I don't change diapers, do laundry, clean, cook, or other traditionally female duties. I have done them and will do them anytime she asks or my help is needed, but in general she takes care of all that stuff 99.99% of the time.

And yes, if you have a penis and a Miata, either you better be < 18 years old or the Miata better be a track only car. Sorry, I don't make the rules

I agree totally. This schatt about these foam helmets HAS to stop. Nowdays if your riding your bike around without the mandated helmet and she-man riding attire, your asked if you got a DUI for christsakes.

One vote for not lifting the toilet seat before you piss. Let em deal with my drippins...
