Yes let's not forget that it takes 2 bidders to get the bid that high...after all the high bidder has to trounce the previous high bid.
Maybe there's 2 shill bidders...after all this guy always said he wanted 12K for that POS. Good way to push it up there. |

Here's why I think bidder 13 is a shill.
Look at the times. You can see several lower bidders were outbid and came back for another try whiich is why the lower numbers are out of order. Same guy bids it up nearly $5k in just under 90 seconds? Why? To find the reserve? If that was the reason he is stupid as hell to do it 4 days before the end. You what until 4 minutes before the end. There's plenty of snipe programs out there...I love 'em as a bidder and hate 'em as a seller
...stomachmonkey you could be right - why the hell push it to reserve 4 days out otherwise? I didn't look closely enough at the times (hate the new hidden bidder BS - I mentioned that already )

Katie,
This just amazes me. It's caused me to think back about myself at the age of 23. I was a Sergeant in the Air Force. I was an avionics technician with red X orders on F-4E fighters. Red X orders means that for my system I had the authority to certify the aircraft was safe for flight. There was a lot of lives and money in my hands. My wife, who is 1 year older than me, was the charge nurse on a 30 bed surgery floor. Again, just a small bit of responsibility. We had been married for 3 years at that time and owned our home. We had a mortgage and 2 car payments. I had NEVER been given a car or any help paying for insurance, fuel, repairs, etc. You don't sound 23 to me. You sound 12. Joe |

Joe,
Hats off to you! I think your being a little hard on Katie... not many people on the BBS had risen to your lever of maturity at 23... or even 33 My dad gave me $600 for a car when I (barely) graduated high school back in (cough) 1975... that must be a million bucks in todays dollars! And I think insurance was optional back then.

Scott,
Maybe you're right but I believe all you have to do is look at our Military. Most people never stop to think that an old man ready to retire with 20 years is usually in his late 30s. Some of our fighter pilots are Katie's age! By the time I was 26 I was in charge of all the avionics on my shift for 24 aircraft. I was not an unusual case. I still don't have a 4 year degree. Believe me, I've paid lots of "stupid tax!" I've bought far more little toys that I've lost interest in than I can count. I could probably buy a NEW Porsche for what I've blown on stupid junk. But it was always money that would not affect the way we lived. If I had it to do over again, I would not go into debt for ANYTHING other than a house. I will never have another car payment even if that someday means I'm having to drive a $1000.00 beater. Joe 1982 911SC Targa |

When you snipe, make sure NOT to enter an even number, like 12000. Use something like 12001.23.
I almost feel bad when I know I've sniped someone--almost.

Hey Holt,
I think someone is sniping, b/c I just looked at the bid history list, and it went from $11,025 to $12,005.00. Oh well. I just hope Bidder 13 has a lot of money laying around...

"Schilling" is having someone known to you "bid-up" the auction in hopes of driving up the price or making others believe there is more interest in the item than there really is. However, what you're describing in the above-referenced post is called "bidding". |

So give it a rest, ok? There's no need to correct me on everything I say.
