I just got word that it has claimed my grandmother.

I'm packing to head to Florida now (okay, I'm taking a break from packing). Anyway, I'm going to be down there for 5 days, and between the funeral and the wedding I was already heading down there for, I'll probably have a free evening on Wednesday or Thursday. I haven't seen Juvy post in a while, but I'm going to be in Melbourne/Merritt Island. Maybe the three of us (and any other Pelicans in the area) can get together one of those nights.

I am certainly not a John Edwards fan but given the experience of having lost a child, I wish them both the best and a positive outcome for this situation. It is not an optimistic scenario and I don't see him being able to continue the campaign but I would say that for him to immediately give up the run for president would have been an emotional burden for her. I believe he will walk away from the campaign in the near future, especially if her condition deteriorates.

WRONG he is proving that he is self centered and puts his family behind his political ambition As one who has had to deal with family with cancer, and lost loved ones to it, I can't believe anyone would be so self centered to abandon & use a loved one like that POS A-hole is doing But, that is a typical dem for you

I agree, as loving husband and father, he should take the initiative to make certain that his family send as much time together during this crisis as possible. 6 and 8 year old children need their mom for as much bonding as possible, not the pupil scrutiny of a campaign.
He can come back to campaign later in his career.

He's not going to get the nomination so he can do whatever he wants. It does seem pretty stupid to me, just trying to pass himself off as some ultimate patriot. The media will have a field day with this and it could very well detract from the DNC initiative.

I would have been up for the side trip had I read this before I came down the Florida Turnpike this morning. With the truck issues I'm having, I don't know that the old boy would have made it.
