Watch repair
I was going through my box of military souvenirs this weekend and I cam across an older Soviet submariners watch I traded with my Russian counterpart for a digital timex.
(Not to be confused with a Rolex Submariner - this one has a nice depiction of a Soviet Delta IV class SSBN on it.) Long story short, it stopped working years ago, but since I "found" it again, I would like to get it working. I just popped the back cover off and it started ticking oddly enough It is a 17 jewel totally mechanical watch with day function It has a nice sweep second hand, and the crown is a three position - wind, time adjust, and date adjust. Anyone know of a good watch repair place that is fairly reasonable? Thanks

You will be hard pressed to get a mech watch serviced correctly for <$100. Not sure if the watch you have is >$100.

I have a guy locally. He is a retired watchmaker. If you take it into most places, like Alf said, they will charge you more than the watch is worth.
Let me know if I can help...

What do they do besides shoot some high grade parts cleaner in there and then add micro drops of watch oil?

Is it a Vostok? They're pretty reasonable new and readily available.

As a baseline got to at least seperate the movement from the dial, stick the whole thing it into parts cleaner, re-oil, re-seal and regulate. If the watch stopped working, there is probably other things wrong.

It is like this one: http://www.solod.com/vostok/Blue_Submariner_Full_dress_72.html but older, only 17 jewels, and not as ornate.
