World Peace?

The last hundred years or so have seen technolgy moving forward at a very fast pace. Maybe too fast. Without thought of the consequences.

It seems world peace has been forgotten, the fact that *most* of the new technology had it's root for a miltary purpose.
Man is really good at killing. Very efficient. Quick. It's disgusting.

I'm trying to think of a recent breakthrough that has made life better for all man.

In the last century two major governments outlawed religion . A third government took a very dim view toward religion and operated under a doctrine of survival of the fittest.These governments were the most brutal the world has ever known!

Since WWII we have tried to make the world more interdependent and we in the US have abandoned isolationism but I'm not sure this is working .

World or local peace are going to be very hard to come by.I hate to say this but it seems that nuclear weapons deter countries that have them from going to war with each other and we know that crime has gone down in areas that liberalize gun ownership . But we always have that worry of a nut leader with a nuc or local nut with a gun .

Now I would be all for banning guns and nucs if we could keep them off the black market . But I've come full circle and conclude . No answer .

Everything, trekkor, is local in nature. Most folks are affected by things in a 5 mile radius from where they reside. That being said; problems arise from a number of factors, most of which have their roots in emotion. Envy, ego, greed and fear to name a few. Eliminate the negative emotional factors, concentrate on the positive and practical, and much of the problem would go away.

I am convinced that most of the citizenry of this little globe would be a lot happier if everyone learned to mind their own business, and help when asked. Too many people trying to convince others that one lifestyle,whether it be a political system or a religious belief is superior to another. As long as that individual lifestyle or culture does not harm its members or others, either physically or mentally, others should leave it alone. If that culture believes in torture, submission, slavery or worse and becomes a threat to itself or its neighbors, then intervention may be called for.

One final observation: As the world population continues to increase, the situation will continue to decline.

I'm interested in the outlook held by the population.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no solutions in the foreseeable future. The governments have no answers and the people know that.

Straw argument to further an agenda.

The best you can hope for is as much peace as you can muster. Humans are human. They compete. They want to win. Individuals come to their own peace only after fighting their own internal battles (jihad anyone?). Beyond that you do the best you can.

Governments are corrupt. Religions are corrupt. Because they both involve people and money and power and control. Period.

Governments are corrupt. Religions are corrupt. Because they both involve people and money and power and control. Period.

So what's going to happen?

"Religion is a snare and a racket"...

Everyone wants peace and the Gov'ts say thats what they are are working to acheive. They will not.

Despite what you think/believe, stem cell research and implementation of that research will fortify man until the end of time. So that's the breakthrough.

Until some new disease manifests itself. It's necessary to keep the balance.

Unlike for example, the lions/wildebeasts, in this case, the largest "predator" is routinely succumbed by the smallest "predator."

Assuming that the lack of money is the root of all evil...

Fist start with Education, then with Trade with that there will be Prosperity and Stability will follow. Peace will be elusive as long as there is discontent.
