First, there were times that I found Pat's comments, political views, rants, and ramblings to be contrary to my own views, and sometimes just plain annoying. I learned where the "back" button is that allowed me to back out of threads I disliked.

Second, in "real life" I found pat to be a genuinely good person that is easy to get along with.

Rick, on the other hand..... well, that's a different story. ;)
(just kidding, Rick)

What is the explanation for such contrary positions, one personality on PPBB and another totally different one in person. What purpose does that serve? is it just to annoy or aggravate people?

I've been around for a while and never met anyone like this before either here or in real life, just curious if there is a logical explanation.

Guys, there is no "tiff" going on here. Someone posted an answer to a question that was not the truth and I corrected it. Now all of the Confederate Flag wavers feel honor bound to stand up and defend the original poster, and not one of them cares to mention that he was wrong in the first place.

If someone posted a lie about Pat, Speeder, Shaun or even Rick or Procon and I knew better I would correct it. All of these guys have gone head to head against me in the past but why lie about something? If someone cannot handle the truth then STFU but telling something that is not true on an open BBS, especially this one is guaranteed to generate a response.

I just wanted to say that I had a great time yesterday with you guys and the drive was adventurous to say the least. Pat picked a great loop and I was sorry to miss KC's little run at the end--we got separated into two groups at the end--our group took the high speed run and KC went the curvy way. Dinner was wonderful and I enjoyed getting to see Pat's new kitchen that I have heard so much about.

I think it is interesting how OT always gets into a frenzy over Pat. I have worked with Pat at our wrenching parties a few times and I have never had a conversation with him that makes me uncomfortable in any way. Do I think some of the stuff he used to post was a waste of bandwidth? Yes, and I don't agree with him on some issues but he is still a friend and a genuine car nut. I think most people would be surprised if they met him in person.

Thank you again guys for putting this together and hopefully we can do it again in the near future. Did anyone get any good pictures during the drive? I was too busy trying to keep up with Harvey and Pat to even think about getting out my camera. There was also this blue 924 that was either right behind or in front of me that just wouldn't go away--guy was crazy driving a 924 like that :)

Well we made it back to Va with little or no hassle. (The State boy who wanted me to slow down got my attention. I was lucky and got off with a flash of the blues)
A word of advice for anybody driving in SC....................Buy a GPS! They don't think street signs are important.
Had a great time, Talked alot of trash, and was glad to get away for a few days.
I did find out one thing I was unaware of....................We were considered normal. Imagine that, who da thunk it?

I have encountered Noah in a couple of threads on PPOT and in both cases he was an out and out A-hole. So much of an a-hole I wanted to go ahead and just screw with him fully on principle. Then I thought about it and figured he was not worth the effort. A-holes are A-holes and he seems to be connected with Eli somehow and I would end up the looser in any confrontation I started with him.

Pat proved that for all of us. So now I just snicker and giggle at his trolling attempts to start a fight and move on.

So based on my experience with PPOT Noah will go out of his way to instigate a confrontation just like Pat would. The difference is Noah is a mod and Pat is not.

I will have to agree with this statement, quite the AHHH, how do you say it, AHHH, no I cant print those words. I didnt know FastPat before last November at the Deals Gap, had breakfast with him and he was the nicest guy to talk to. I never got into any of the threads with him or anybody else, just based on personal experience.

Jim,

If you and several people feel this way about ANY Moderator on ANY forum, please see the head of the BBS, who in this case is Wayne. Just because a person is nomimated to be a Moderator does not mean that they are always correct, as we have seen on this forum from time to time.

While I totally agree with you that Pat may be the nicest thing in person and probably is a nice guy 99% of the time, he broke the rules enough to get Wayne and several moderators (not to mention quite a few list members) perturbed at him. He likes to post things that can be very "interesting" to say the least and many times it ends up being a fur-ball.

The thread where this all transpired has been removed from the BBS the last time I looked but, when I read it there was no doubt that Pat was baiting Noah and anyone else who would raise to the occasion. When someone baits another person (especially a Moderator) and the other person responds, then I find it difficult to call it "instigating a confrontation" but we are all different people and see things in different ways.

Glad you guys had a good time and if I lived closer I would have loved to joined and would have engaged Pat in debate over a adult beverage. Those steaks sure looked good but dammit someone needs to teach Pat that cooking with charcoal is the only way to do a BBQ IMHO!

I always find it astounding that people can become so ill mannered and angry on the internet.

Were all grown men here.

We all love fast car, boats, motorcycles.....we all love FAST.

I would bet that Fastpat and mullholandose would get along just peachy over a bottle of scotch and some filets on the grill.

*sigh*

The final nail in Pats coffin, was a question. It was a question of dual citizenship, that was asked directly to Noah.
As I have stated earlier, questions can be taken in more than one way. That is (IMO) why that part of the thread was never re-opened during my thread questioning Pats banning.
I was told to drop it, in PM's sent to me by several people from Pelican.
Just like you Joe, when I feel something is wrong I will speak up. I'm more than likely pushing some buttons by even posting my opinion on the matter, that isn't my intention, so don't take it that way. I also don't care it it rattles a few cages. sometimes a little fighting is a good thing.

Procon... I'll definately try to get some images posted from the Lowes event. I wanted to run my in-car camera, but the camera doesn't seem to like the power from my lighter outlet. I don't think I have time to get a replacement.

Joeaksa 06-25-2007 05:09 AM

Rick,

Disagree with one thing. If its your opinion and you feel strongly about it, then voice it. As long as its done in a civilized and calm manner do not see any reason for anyone to hold back.

Telling someone to fork off is one thing, but telling them in a manner to make them look forwards to the journey and end result is what may be needed in some cases! :)

I am not totally opposed to Pat's return but should he return and resort to his old modes then it will soon start it all over again. Yes he went after one Moderator, saying some things that would have pissed most anyone off. I had a dispute with a Moderator on this forum myself in the past. Had I been totally in the wrong, bet that I would have been bounced as well, but in private emails with other Moderators and the owner of this list the situation calmed down. Had Pat done the same thing and not kept jabbing the one Moderator in the side as well as saying things that did not need saying in the first place, he might very well still be here.

Joe

Joe,

This is an internet forum, not a democracy. The rules are the rules, if someone broke them they should be banned. I agree 100% with you.

Noah has a way of baiting people into arguments much in the same way Pat does. Pat responded in an ill manner because obviously Noah pushed the right button on him. End of story.

Your final comment is what it is all about, I am sure if I met Noah, Mul or anyone else on PP it would be fun. Its fun to meet different people. I have not met a Pelican yet that was not cool and fun to be around. Hell, we like the same cars and that is a great starting point.

Someone made the comment that some people are really agressive on PPOT that most likely would not be in person, Pat is a perfect example. I bet Noah is another.

But, you know what? That is what makes things so interesting, if everyone was bland there would be no excitement.

Noah, I was almost positive there was a member on here named "Eli at Pelican Parts". It seemed he was instrumental in getting Pat banned. I know Wayne did the banning, but I could swear an Eli said he did it though.

It really is pointless, as much as all of you felt the need to take a dump on this thread. Pat is still a nice guy a generous person and he is not going to disapear entirely. He has made too many friends on here for that to happen.

CarreraDan 06-25-2007 05:33 AM

Sounds like a plan Harvey, just let me know when. I might be able to come up with a location depending on how many would show up and what kind of firearms we would be shooting. The neighbors might get nervous with tons of gunfire. Cannot wait to do another run.

Ain't that the truth... Pat was "troll light" compared to Mul, and according to Speeder (who "knows" and vouches for him in real life), Mul is a stand up guy too! I have no doubt that almost all of us would enjoy each other's company in person, and these PPOT spats would be the source of much merriment :)

Rick Lee 06-25-2007 06:05 AM

Well, I know Noah pretty well, have shot, boozed, tracked and wrenched with him. I've never witnessed any kind of troll'ish behavior on his part, either here or in person. I've seen him jump into a thread where some commentary was sorely begged for by someone else and he told me in person all about the banning of Pat. I wouldn't have done it, but he sounded justified in his decision and wasn't overruled by anyone else for it. I am sure he and Eli are not the same person, unless Noah has a split personality I haven't seen yet.
