For the record, Eli (who is not Jewish) has not worked at Pelican Parts for more than one year.

Honestly Noah, I had no idea who you were on here until Pat got banned, then in 2 threads since then you decided to crap on me with childish behavior. In one case I got my panties twisted in a wad. In the second case I just smiled and moved on.

I do not get involved in political and religious threads so whatever political or religious affiliation you have I do not know. If your Jewish, Born again, Republican Democrat I do not care. So if Pat has been spewing anti-sematic drivel I would not know.

I have no consiracy theory. Wayne announced in a thread he banned Pat. Now you are saying you banned him. So I am a little confused by all you comments but far from spinning a conspiacy theory.

Oh and for the record, I am a Jehovahs Witness, I can search this on here and find comments from many active members that are not very nice. Ask me if I care?

I do not, most have misconceptions about other religions and once they get to know a person they realize that person is pretty normal. Pat does not seem to have a problem with me neither does anyone else I have met from here in person. Yet, some will post up their dislike for the "door knockers". I get a kick out of it. I would never consider going after them and getting them banned.

Super_Dave_D 06-25-2007 07:23 AM

And the FASTPAT argument continues to this day!! So funny!!

Rick V 06-25-2007 07:36 AM

Jim, 'Be it far from me to correct a friend, but in this case I should tell you Noah banned Pat. Trust me on this.

Noah,
You call me a biggot, you don't know me. Let me give you a little insite. I don't dislike people because of what they are. If I dislike a person it is for a reason, and it is that person not thier beliefs, religion, race......ect.
Calling me a biggot, is kind of out of left field, and very uncalled for.
I would like to make it perfectly clear I have never called anybody anything unless it was ment in a joking manner (My shot at Joe earlier in this thread is a perfect example). You should also extend the same courtesy to the others. If you don't see it that way, you shouldn't have the power to mod.
I have said it before and I'll say it again, re-post the thread that got Pat banned (in a locked format) so we can all read it for ourselves. That is the only way the topic will ever be closed.
I was told by you in a PM to let it go, it seems I am not the only person who feels Pat got a raw deal, by butting heads with you.
I'm not asking for Pat to be returned, that is between Pat and PP , I would just like an answer I can hang a hat on.

Dan,
Let me know when "range day" is. My count was 3 packing, with several options in the wings. :)

Jims5543 06-25-2007 07:54 AM

My apologies. Wayne stated he had no idea why Pat was banned, he was stating he personally banned Mul and mul e-mailed personal threats to him.

BTW - Rick, I am sorry this thread deteriorated down to this. I am done.

Jims5543 06-25-2007 08:01 AM

More pictures please!!!

Pat was vehemently anti-U.S. government and anti-Israel. And anti-neoconservative, a movement whose founders were mostly prominent American Jews who are outspoken and unapologetic defenders of Israel. Some would say defenders of Israel, "right or wrong", because in their eyes Israel is never wrong. Anything and everything the state of Israel does is justified, due to security concerns.

Making the leap from criticizing the neocon movement and Israel to being a bigot or anti-semitic, ie. a "jew hater", is at the very least the tactic of someone losing a debate and at worst a red herring. Reasonable people can question whether the U.S. government's support for Israel "right or wrong" is fair to others in the region and/or lends itself to being considered an honest broker in peace negotiations, for instance.

Pat held extreme but consistent views, he was vehemently opposed to the U.S. having any role at all in the affairs of ME countries, or any other countries. I never read anything from him that suggested personal bigotry towards Jews, or anyone else. In fact, I have seen countless examples of outright racism expressed here by members that are very much still with us. And I don't think that they should be banned. I like the uncensored version of humanity that is available on boards like this. But then, I'm a major free-speech advocate.

I'm a major fan of Noah as a thinker, a doer, a man of principle, (even when we do not agree), and a friend. But there is a marked difference in BBS temperament and objectivity between Noah and any other moderator. Noah should not be a moderator. It is like me being a moderator. A terrible choice. Noah should be free to throw combinations on here w/o the moderator badge around his neck. JMNSHO.

Not a problem. You should know me well enough to have a picture of me sitting at my computer, with a pinch between the teeth and gum, laughing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182787670.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1182787751.jpg
Thats all I got. It's too bad the one of KC almost rear ending me didn't turn out. It's a great shot of my headliner, as Beth was launched forward. I hit a large, concrete, entrance, and it stopped the car cold. OUCH
And we didn't get a shot of my engine lid flying open as we bounced over............I think it was a bridge............I'm not sure.
Good times.
Oh I also almost T-Boned Procon, he was turning around (In the middle of the road)................he heard a horn blow. Don't ask. :)

not judging anybody here but that early swastika, errrr...rebel flag...is about as offensive a symbol as i have seen in recent times.

i can understand a rational person not liking our foreign policy as regards to Israel and make no judgements about people based on their opinions on such an issue; but to proudly display such a symbol of hate and ignorance, well i'll pass on that party.

Heritage is not hate. If some are misusing a historical battle flag to prop up a ridiculous idea that is deplorable, but I do not accept the battle flag of Manassas to be categorically vilified.

In the south, the war of "Northern Aggression" is not forgotten.

berettafan 06-25-2007 10:13 AM

Doug with all due respect that's a nice bumper sticker (heritage is not hate) but my personal experience with folks who hold that 'flag' dear tells me otherwise.

Offensive, BS, I'm a Son of Confederate Veterans, was a KA member (Gentleman of the South) and I take offense that someone mocks my family history, and the German part of me is even more offended at the swastika comment.

Maryland is a "southern" state by virtue of being below the Mason-Dixon Line and having a large slave population -- 87,189 according to the 1860 census.

Maryland didn't end slavery until a month before the end of the War of Northern Aggression Your ignorance is shown by your comment.

My great great Grandfather fought under the Confederate flag and while it might be offensive to some, its not to others.

You are stereotyping.

Lothar 06-25-2007 10:46 AM

I am from a northern Mid-Atlantic state by birth. However, the Confederate flag has meaning beyond the simple-minded knee-jerk reaction of many who associate it only with racism and slavery.

Slavery would have ended even without the civil war and the notion that the war was about slavery is simply rubbish. What the Confederate flag should represent, and what the Civil War was really about, is the belief in limited federal government and the preservation of the rights of states.

One of the beauties of the 19th Century was the relative lack of influence of the federal government. The shift in power as we entered the 20th Century was a huge blow to our republic and the Confederacy represents a significant stand against run-away centralized government.

berettafan 06-25-2007 10:50 AM

What on earth does Maryland's stance on slavery have to do with any of this? I've lived on this earth for 34 years and have yet to meet somebody waving a confederate flag who showed an ability to accept any intelligent, kind human as an equal regardless of color. Sure some folks don't put the flag in their front yard and you don't hear hateful racial slurs in their day to day conversations but get behind closed doors with them, say in a poker game or at the golf course and lo and behold the hatred spews out like a budweiser keg with a hole in the side of it!

Am i the only person here who associates the confederate flag with ignorant bigots? Is everyone else here living in some alternate universe where rebel flag waving dimwits actually despise bigotry in all it's forms and admonish their children to avoid associating with people who use terms like n****r or spook or k*** in normal conversation?

I call it like i see it guys and what i see is ugly.

Rick V 06-25-2007 10:58 AM

Seems strange to me that any symbol from the civil war, on the southen side seems to have a negative reaction.
As a social experiment, I place a battle flag plate on the front of a big 'ol dodge truck I had. I was met with alot of comments. From some people, I was yelled at and told I should have to attone for my forefathers. That is a big joke, I am only the second generation in America. My family (either side) wasn't even here during the time of slavery. I owe nobody anything.
I was cheered by some folks that I wouldn't want living next to me.
It seems funny to me that symbols of history still hold that much emotion.
Barretta, you have met me, do I seem like a racest to you? I hope not.
Our past history isn't the best, but isn't that what makes who we are today?

Joeaksa 06-25-2007 11:00 AM

This is going to get very interesting....

berettafan 06-25-2007 11:06 AM

there is nothing simple minded about considering one's life experiences and making a judgement based on them. it is, in fact, how we all operate.

you can tell me the sky is orange but every damn day i look up and i see blue so that's what i'm going with.

regardless of the reasons for the civil war your 'flag' has since been adopted by folks who hate blacks and other minority races. the 'why' of the civil war is not what i was speaking about. we're talking about current events, not history guys.
