Dutiful and obedient to your way of thinking. I was being ironic. I assumed to much.

I believe the focus of the bashing was that the city would be more willing to assist (insert gay focus group) if they were late or had trouble on any permits rather than simply reject them.

I was just in SF a couple of weeks ago. Is it just my imagination or is SF a really filthy city? Trash all over the place etc?
Also, I have never seen so many folks smokin' weed out in the open. I had seen at least 5 different groups of people either standing or walking around with blunts. Why is that?

So I guess you won't be moving here too soon.
![]() But seriously, since the issue was not as portrayed, it seems the gay issue is at the root of your anger. Since you are in Florida, why do you care what we do here. |

almost all the native and 3rd generation Californians I know (all 5 of us) are quite cool. Interesting that people say the place has gone downhill since the 70's, so that would be due to all the people moving in from other states perhaps?
Very simple solution guys. Don't go to San Francisco. Or CA for that matter. |

I noticed SF got a lot dirtier in the last 10-20 years. I don't go there anymore. It is all the homeless people and panhandlers, who generally have some sort of mental health disease. This was started, or greatly exacerbated when Ronald Reagan was the guv and kicked them all to the curb, all the non dangerous ones were put on the street, so to speak. See, I knew I would not have to point out how his response epitomized my point

Shame there's no oil in San Francisco...that would make it worth invading..!!. Once the wells were depleted, we could put a big fence around it and stick all the illegals there.. Hell, we could just give it to Mexico!!.
*my best attempt at being a "backwards hick" from New Jersey.

There already are Gays in the Service
This is a topic that has bugged me for a long time. There are a ton of gays, jews, christians, moslems, whites, blacks, browns, asians, etc. etc. etc. in the military. But here is the deal, why should anyone have the right to get up and express their preference for anything and what the heck is their motivation? Well I offer that it is for selfish reasons and not for the good of the unit or the success of the mission. I have seen a ton of folks pull together when the chips are down, it is amazing! These same folks may not be best friends during the regular day but they respect each other.
I know I am going to take heck for the following from my Christian brothers and sisters but if an evangelical sailor were to stand up in the barracks bay and start preaching as compared to anyone else doing the same thing, well I would not condone it and put an end to it immediatly. That does not preclude sailors from communicating one on one or in small groups, no matter what the topic (well mutiny would not be good) but that is their right, they have a choice. I may not like their choice or it may not be my cup of tea, but it is their choice, period. Itimate relationships are private matters. Don't ask don't tell confirms that, once it is forced into the public, on others, it is another matter. Anyway, that is my 2 cents. Service with honor is something all humans do all the time. DanB

RE: "the folsom street fair"
________________ Can anyone name another city in the USA where this type of behavior would be allowed to take place, in public, without arrests? The only hope for that pathetic city is this: The terrorists (when they do get a small nuke device to our shores) will understand 'prevaling winds' relationship to fallout ....so rather than set it off in N.Y. they will (correctly) choose the West Coast. Hey towel head ...NOT L.A. .... go further North please.

This post makes me so damn angry on so many levels. I get sad when I think about all of our Veterans that must think "this is what I fought for? This is what so many people have died for?" We have the rights in this country to be whatever and act however we want. Try being openly gay in 1939 Nazi Germany. Try being an artist or whatever you want to be in the Soviet Union in 1984. Geez...aren't you glad THEY didn't win? What kills me is the reason people have these freedoms is because of our military and what they have done for us. Those same free people will spit in the face of a soldier. I'm glad my WWII vet Granfathers are not around to see this.I always felt bad for my Dad being a Vietnam Vet. I always hated thinking of him and what it must have been like coming home to such a "warm" reception like he did. I'm so proud of him and his military service (20+ years active duty and 20+ yrs and going civi gov. employee at Mayport NS) and always go out of my way to let him know that.
I don't get the whole "Gay pride" thing. I mean...really? I know some gay people (Guys and Gals...hell, I went to art school) And they always felt like "what's the big deal if your gay?" They never made it an "issue" They didn't let it define them as a person. Nobody ever says "Terry...you know...the hetero guy that has the thing for girls) You wouldn't even know some of them were gay and they didn't feel the need to flaunt it....why should it be an issue. Is it an issue that I like big boobs? Should I have "Big Tit Appreciation Day" and close down the streets of Jacksonville? (not a bad idea...Byron, you in?) One of the best feelings I recently had was sitting in Bradley Airport (Hartford CT) on my way back to FL. and seeing a family waiting for their son to get back from Iraq. The place was packed, but fairly quiet. When those Soldiers got off the plane, the whole place erupted in applause for at least 5 minutes while families hugged, kissed and cried. Not hardly a dry eye around. You could hear the applause following them down the concourse. And this was in liberal CT!!!! Not all is lost. I guess we (the US) need more Dems like Lieberman. Also...this is a great way for me to really get to know some of you and see a little more of your true personallities. It's great when we all talk Porsche but very disappointing, but informative, when we don't. I wish I could stop looking over here and just keep Pelican about cars. When I read posts now in the 911 sections I find myself saying" wait...this is the jerk from the OT thread". BTW. I'm sure I have spelling errors but i'm too f**king stupid to use the spell check button. I'm angry and I did go to a government school in the south for most of my childhood. Grew up in the hood of Ponte Vedra FL. lots of really dumb redneck golfers and tennis pros out there. Oh and I forgot the really redneck late Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood. What a hick town.

wants to get me banned for pointing out the truth, he even has the German version of the car he tells me to buy(sorry, one is going to talk me into getting rid of my Porsche's, street or vintage to make some poser happy, My mother raced a Porsche back in the 50, and I spend a fair amount of time on the track myself) so why don't you just stay on the gay-blade boards. BTW, I use to have a 86 928, but in a mans color with a 5 speed and no sunroof
