Something one doesn't see everyday--a supercharged KZ.

Owner is a drag bike guy who works for Lockheed. Made the majority of the parts himself--very trick set-up.

Another shot taken the same day.
Jolly - did you take those shots? They're great.

I saw 3985 come over the Cajon grade down into So Cal in the early 90's as well. What an amazing piece of machinery!

I was usually riding behind it so did not get the opportunity to photograph it working. These were taken by a good friend of mine David M. See. He passed away about 16 years ago. Here is a photo that I took in 1995 when they let everyone off that wanted to take a photo at a remote location, backed up, came roaring by and then backed up again to pick up all the photographers. The engineer, Steve Lee, ruined the photo by propping a cardboard cutout of Bartles and James in the cab window.

A central coast DOUBLE DECKER bus. City bought it without thinking of the limited places it could go due to power lines, signs, lights etc. So it takes a circuitous route around town and to the local university, and stays off of all the routes that would serve its riders best.

Either a new driver or a confused driver must have been navigating today:

The bus was blessedly empty of passengers!

Ouch. I saw those around campus but never thought about how restricted the routes would be. I had a car.

Some of both. I volunteered as part of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, who hosted the train when it would visit this part of Texas. We would provide car attendants and concessions workers. I usually ended up slinging snacks and soft drinks in one of the lounge cars. Was great just to ride along.
