You nailed it on the pros. I remember watching a game with my dad, decades ago.
Noting that the guy at the plate was batting under .200, I said that he wasn't any good. My dad responded that he was DAMNED GOOD....because this was the big leagues, and he was there. Dads can be wise like that sometimes...

Yep, that guy hitting .200 in the pros was probably the best hitter ever to come out of his high school and possibly college, an all-star his whole life with all the attention, who suddenly finds himself barely good enough. That lesson is repeated every season, I just hope the young kids who make that level are ready for it.

One "kid" who is good enough? Jacoby Ellsbury, #46, Red Sox. He's day to day now with a wrist injury...but here he is, his rookie season, leading the American league in stolen bases. Back in '06, he was on the college world series winning team...Oregon State Beavers. Played High School ball in Madras, Oregon...
Red sox called him up out of the minors during the world series last year. His stats for the series: Batted .438. 7 hits, 4 doubles, four runs scored, 3 RBI's, 1 stolen base, with an on base %age for four games of .563. Wow!

Fightin' Tigers come back from 7-2 deficit to win 9-7. LSU has never lost a Regional or Super Regional at home & showed why today. Tomorrow afternoon decides the issue.

Tonight is not the night for LSU. If UCI can keep #55 in the dugout, it will be an easy win for the anteaters.
I will give two outfielders for the Tigresses the credit they deserve, they made some great catches in the last two games. However, that's something that won't keep up, just like the streak. Nighty night ladies of LSU.

You're closer on the Celtics. So far it looks like all the big guns at the CWS are going to meet up in the loser's bracket! I took a lot of greif when the (football) Tigers lost to Arkansas. But that worked out just fine!

I remember that very well. A few weeks before the Ark game I was fishing in Grand Isle with a slew of LSU faithful, later that night they had one of their cup cake games, La Tech I believe, which they won handily. During the game I made one of my predictions just to get under their skin. Arkansas will beat LSU, you will not be able to stop McFadden. Snot nosed sob's wouldn't listen. I think they were ok with the outcome of the season though.
