Clinton did not start the war...although his policies greatly contributed to its eventuality... You assume way too much. I really don't know how testicularly endowed they are...did they volunteer?...even so, who in the French Military would ever expect to actually go to war? Wasn't it the French that propped up Sadaam with the oil for food scam? The French are reaping the ugly seed their government sowed. It is a pity that soldiers always pay the price for the mistakes of their leaders. God bless all 10 of them. Don't assume that all of those who post here know was as little of war as you. Kudos to them for fighting...but dying really is not the goal...

The really funny thing about the anti-French sentiment in the US is:
France & the US are very similar in attitude. They are both very proud. They are both very arrogant. And both countries feel are that they are the most important people/culture in the world & everybody else should appreciate that & show some respect. So when you criticize France, look in the mirror first. Ian

Call me whatever you want. Flame me if you have to but keep in mind I have French relatives and I have some French blood in me:
The standard French soldier I did not find as someone I wanted at my back. The French version of Special Forces troops I did admire. They are as professional as it gets. I would always choose British, Belgian, German soldiers to guard my back. I've heard good things about some Polish troops, Georgian troops, ROK troops (scary stuff there), and Turkish troops. Read Major General Von Mellinthin. I believe he came back into print. I have probably misspelled his name but the book is something like Panzer Battles. Very insightful. The French soldiers lost because their government gave out on them years before. Not sure what has change, governments ALWAYS give out on their soldiers at some point. I can't even go to a VA and I am an honorably discharged veteran who served during a couple of engagements and wars and have twice as many medals as years served. Never saw combat though.

When you said "I have never experience any French person treating me badly because I am an American." I let it pass. But, I was thinking 'you are not likely too observant.' (I have family in France) The snooty French stereotype has roots; deep roots.
So, now there you are, calling finstone clueless. Could it be, that you are the clueless one? --that maybe, you have been dis'd behind your back, a few hundred times? . . .maybe?

Groesbeck, I don't know much about their training but I know that 10 died in Afgahnistan. I don't think THIS is the place to belittle dead soldiers.

Sorry, did not mean to sound like I was belittling dead soldiers. I do apologize!!! I am not sure what gave that impression.
I wanted to point out that French soldiers are like any others. When their government lets them down, they are not as effective due to lack of training and equipment.

All people are the same
I haven't been in the military but I have worked with people from all over the world for the past 50+ years. What I have found out is all people want the same things and will do what it takes to get these within reason, that is family, security and peace. The difference is their respective governments. Problem is peace is ONLY achieved thru strength. All talk and treatys do is postpone the inevitable.

1 not all grape vines were wiped out (true, it was tough, but they grafted american vines on the existing vines... so essentially they retained genetic markers, and added resistance) So "all French Grape Vines are originally from CA" that's an F- in the facts department 2 it ain't only about the vines, it's also about the location of the vines, the soil, the elevation, the ground water, the climate you can have 2 patches of grape vines, just 10 meters apart and one patch will go in to a grand cru, the other in daily table wine 3 then there's the way the grapes are processed into wine the inside secrets and what not... no wine is made from one single patch, one single grape vine

An acquaintance of mine owns a Winery in CA. His real income is selling grapes to the larger vintners. His passion is making Ports and Sherry's...which regularly win Gold Medals in competitions.
He can have any wine he likes to drink, as the wine making community in CA is very small. What does he drink everyday...One of his Red Jug Wines that comes in gallon jugs with a screw cap.... So don't give me this BS about wine and wine making.
