I have an ex who was just always angry and pissy. I guess her vanity license plate "ill tempr" should have been an early hint. I thoroughly enjoyed dumping her. My last words as I was walkng out her door were, "The things you don't like about me are never gonna change." And then I went over to Marcesq's house to do an all-nighter engine swap. That was a fun time.

Ill-tempered women do NOT improve with time. After about the age of 27-28 they will not change. And there are so many more out there with great dispositions anyway. Why stay with a mean one? Life is too short. You'll end up like George Costanza's parents. Sure, they love each other. But do you want to have a shouting match several times a day?

there is alot of truth in this. the behavior we permit is the behavior we promote. not saying you have absolute control over her but you do have control over what you expose yourself to.

also, one of my nieces treats her father like crap because she knows it is safe to do so. he will never leave her because he's dad, so she takes out all her crap on him.

For nearly 23 years I was married to a woman virtually my opposite. I am optimistic to the point of being Pollyanna. I think the world is my oyster. Most everything is good.....or at least amusing. I see possibilities. I gloss over other peoples' poor decisions. The world is a very exciting place.

She was just the opposite. Everything was always going wrong and I was the main problem. Eventually, it became emotionally difficult for me to be at home, in the house. It was just a bad environment. Bad vibes. I spent lots of time outside and in the garage. Eventually....she left me. I am really grateful for that.

Today, there is nobody in my home to tell me what's wrong. What's bad. Peace. Ahhhhh! My current GF loves to do stuff. She works harder around the house than I do. Never, ever whines. She solves problems. Very capable. This is a HUGE change from the last one who was helpless in every area except shopping. The new GF brews beer and we both love IPA's. Excellent cook. She is ALWAYS eager to do the Wild Thing and especially loves delivering BJ's. Ahemmmm.....we're talking complete BJ's here, to the finish. Life is good.

It's been five year now since my marriage imploded. I am still healing. Verbal abuse is abuse. It hurts, and it inflicts damage. I am lucky to have come out with most of my self-esteem intact. But again, some damage was done.

Can you guess what suggestion I would offer you?

Lyon, You don't want to be the "bad guy", am I right? You can stand it when she is riding your butt (verbally!) but you cant' take it if you make her unhappy or make her cry?

Well, don't. Repeat after me, "This relationship isn't working for me and I am leaving. I wsh you the best, but I don't see it getting b etter for me and I am out of here".

Do NOT engage in all the psycho drama of a post mortem on the relationship. Do NOT allow yourself to think for a minute that you can "work it out" etc. I was married for 20 years and it ultimately never got "worked out". Don't text, don't have long conversations. When its over its over.

Here's a little tip; cynical and jaded? Yes but true. Good, healthy relationships don't have to be "worked on". That's a crock women want you to believe; and a lot of men have bought into that fiction. If a relationship is "good" - sexually satisfying - both parties, a fun woman/man you enjoy being with, someone you don't feel supersior NOR inferior to, she is respectful of your interests and you have no problem with her pursuing her interests? THAT'S a good relationship and it doesn't take "work". It takes faithfulness and appreciation it. That is all. Look for one of those and if you don't find it? Move the hell on with minimal drama.

P.S. to Supe. You are a smart man...and a lucky one. Sounds like you were as "devoted" to doing the right thing as I was. Took me a long time to learn, but learn I have. Its not "baggage" its experience. A smart person LEARNS from experience.

I met one of my hottest-ever gf's in a bar the very night another one had dumped me. My best friend and I went out to celebrate my new single status. Two scorching hot Asian ladies caught our eyes. The one I picked lasted about a year. The one my friend picked became his wife a few years ago. I can honestly say that every break-up I've been through, no matter how tough, has always led to better things. Somtimes it took a few hours, sometimes a few years. But it always got better.
