Bullshiat...The Flyers play hard hockey, very hard. That's why girls don't play the game...Remember when the Ducks won the Cup..they were the MOST penalized team that year and won. Too rough for you, go play badmitton.
Second...The Flyers are a way more balanced team than some here are giving them credit for. The Flyers had six...6!!!! different players score...THAT is dangerous. Add into that the fact that this defense is punishing and built for the playoffs with Pronger and you have danger ill Robinson. Last, the Caps and the Pens were built around a singular offense and game plan that their coaches believed in. I think that Laviolette is damn genius who has the Flyers believing in the overall game plan that can change and they believe him and do the changes and it's obviously working. LAST LAST...if the Flyers get Lappy and Carter back, I feel that the Habs will be absolutely dead meat. |

I guess you missed the parts where I said "Well done" and " surprisingly clean". NOW they're playing hard. That is not the style they're known for.
Badminton? please.

Can you tell that I bleed Orange and Black? They win, I'm going there and will be wearing lots of paint....It would probably be the best time of my life second only to my wedding. Game 7 in Boston literally had me on the edge of vomitting.... ...Yeah, it's a problem but one I am happy to shoulder. |

I didn't miss that part but you're talking about teams that played 30 years ago, get over it

Man the Flyers look good. Of course the Bruins looked unbeatable also the 1st 3 games of the last series. Blackhawks the same. Good luck to all the fans of the teams left.

After watching the game last night, I can kind of reflect on hockey playoffs in general. After watching my Pens go to the finals and win the next year, there is more to being just the better team. Lots of factors seemto go into making it to the finals. Who you play, how healthy are you, what the state is of the other team coming up in the next series, having a hot goalie, etc, etc. Seems things have to align. Montreal looks like an 8th seed that just played 2 seven games series. Playing catch-up does "catch-up" with you sooner or later. I guess we will see.

... if you don't score a goal. The only up side is they cut the Flyers scoring by 50%. The next game will be crucial for the Habs.
I'll need to make a few phone calls and shake a few cages as I hate to be on losing side of a bet. Don't worry trader220, I pay all my bet even those with my wife when her Senators win but I think they are now playing golf.

Last night’s game was interesting from a coaching standpoint. The Flyers were totally outplayed in the first period yet the power play bailed them out. IN the second period the Flyers played a much different game. They tried a lot of stretch plays and ended up taking a lot of icing calls but it forced the Habs to loosen up their gap and that ultimately took some of the pressure out of the Flyers end. The Habs D now had to be weary of the homerun pass and could not be as aggressive to force the play and support the forecheck and / or pinch. All of a sudden the game was more balanced.
In all honesty, despite the fact that the change in game plan for the Flyers after period one was a factor it came down to special teams and goal tending and the Habs had neither. Halak looked disinterested or hurting or just plain tired. Two goals went in off his glove. I don’t expect such lax play from Halak and I surely expect the Habs to be absolutely flying on Thursday night in front of the home crowd. Should be fun!

Well the Habs sure did put on a show last night. I wonder if they have the juice to keep doing that though?
If they repeat the performance Saturday then we're gonna see a real dogfight, But I'd have to give the Flyers the physical edge. I was surprised to see Richards go off a bit while Pronger stayed composed.

Anybody see the Broad Street Bullies film on HBO Sports. It brought back some fond memories of the Flyers of the early 70's. Those guys were my heroes growing up.
Funny how it never occurred to me how hated they were throughout the rest of the Hockey world. But who cared, we won the Stanley Cup! After many years of disappointment with the team after those years and having moved south 22 years ago, I am now a Carolina Hurricanes fan, but I have to pull for the Flyers this playoff season. It will rekindle some fond memories of the orange and black.

Those guys were gods here when I was a kid, as a season ticket holder I went to dozens of games a season during those years. I have had many many many chances to skate with those guys and talk hockey. The HBO special was great and the period correct look of all those guys with the sideburns and silk shirts was classic.
About 12 years ago I was playing in a charity game vs. the Flyers Alum team, I was about to take a faceoff vs. Rick MacLeish, as I moved in I said to him, "I'll buy you a beer after the game if you let me win this faceoff"... he looked up at me and said "the beer is free after the game" just at the ref dropped the puck. Then he gave me a wink. Yea the Habs were on a mission last night and they blew the Flyers off the ice. The Flyers had more turnovers in the first period than they had in the previous two games. No one expected a sweep.

The Habs are like a box of chocolates... you never know what you'll get.
If Philly finds itself up 3-1in the series they'd better start cleaning thier golf clubs!
