Free Amerika? You mean Texas, New Mexico and Arizona?

This is one issue is that few ask about recycling the left overs from the Priuses and so on but then they are just looking for the quick fix and not a long term cure.

Tom's post was hilarious. ..great rationalization, he really stepped up to true "look at me, I'm soooo Cap'n Planet" fashion.

News Flash - The Prius was a novelty. ...extra equipment to give the illusion of thrift and economy(compare to econo Diesel.) Much like the extra equipment on that truck - those big exhaust stacks give the illusion of an improved truck. Of course there are some instances where either the truck mod's, or the extra equipment of the Priuses, gives an advantage. ...some.

No, that's not an explanation for how you know Prius owners "could afford what they like. They are not buying such an expensive car to be frugal."

Your neighbors having two of them does not illustrate your point at all.

How do you know why Prius owners buy them?

Did ya notice the new Honda hybrids? ...the ones that look like Priuses ...even tho Honda has had better, more diverse hybrids for years now.

What sells is not the economy. What sells is the symbolism.

btw, Honda is BIG on market research. (and I have a very good friend there)

So you have no empirical evidence whatsoever to back-up your assertion, just a lot of emotion. Feeling something doesn't make it real, just mental masturbation at best. All that shuck and jive nonsense for "Honda builds good cars."

Well, I like Diesel PU trucks, guns, dogs, motorcycles, contact sports where people lose body parts, horny women and as much freedom as possible w/o that freedom infringing on the freedom of others. Everyone has a right to clean air and water whether they are homeless or a billionaire.

I guess that's why my friend Mulholland once referred to me as "a hybrid". (And maybe why I like Priuses).

In the absence of facts, like say an ownership study, or hey, even just a basic comparison of cost vs. mileage for the two cars, the absolute minimum to prove your thesis, you are left with emotion to drive your point.

you're fairly transparent Glenn.

Either prove your point with actual data or just shut up with the Prius owners already.

WOW! ...'emotion' you say...

Seriously, "just shut up with the Prius owners already" --are you here to keep PPOT clean of those who dare to scorn poh Pwius owners?

Or, Shaun, is it that you'll take any excuse to throw turds to throw my way?

Again, 'emotion' you say? --Go replace your pantyliner, and sharpen your safety pencil.

Island never posts actual hard data on anything. It is against his religion or something.

Let me reply to that ala Shaun:

I want to see your facts on that.

In the absence of facts, say like a review of all of island911's post, or hey, even just start with the first thousand island911 posts, the absolute minimum to prove your thesis, you are left with emotion to drive your point.

you're fairly transparent John.

Prove it

Prove it

Prove it

Either prove your point with actual data or just shut up with the island attacks already

Pretty stupid, eh?

No hard data in that one either.

Looks like the one getting emotional is you, what with the weepy pink color palette and all.

Wow, looks like some people are getting pretty huffy in here. Relax, jeeze.

Modern diesels get fantastic gas mileage, emit very low emissions, and are cheaper in about every way than a hybrid. Plus they make a ton more power! And yet americans are still fixed on hybrids it seems, and automatically think diesels are just dirty and crude.

Denis,

Well you do live in the land of "tree huggers" so to speak.

I have seen 2-3 over here in AZ but they are pretty rare in this neck of the woods.
