You know I love bimmers, and the 8 series is a stunning car....

But this is a horrible idea.

I read a story in Roundel or Bimmer about a guy club racing an 8 series. I can't remember if it was V12 or V8. The interior was all stripped and it was still on the heavy side, but it was fast and looked cool.

You pour enough time, effort, and/or money at it and you can make anything go fast around a track.

Hammond's ran fine. Clarkson's Merc was the one that needed a 900GBP ignition coil.

They didn't keep up with them for long.... Those old BMW v8s weren't that strong, and all those electronics have a habit of going funny. I like the E36, but at the same time it scares me. The 8s, like the 928s actually, were cutting edge at the time, which doesn't bode well now.

My corrado was cutting edge for its class and time, and the electronics in it rarely worked right.

No tsunami as yet!

You guys get quakes without tsunamis. We get tsunamis without quakes. (But we get quakes to, with or without tsunamis).

All fast sports cars are money pits if you get one that wasn't taken care of. And all sports cars require maintenance to keep from becoming money pits. 928s aren't any worse than any others. Dumonts once told me they make the most from the 944 Turbos.

Example: clutch job cost the same...944, 944 Turbo, 928.

There are a couple of guys running 928s in the lemons races where you are severely limited on how much you can spend on your car.

I've been on the inside of Lemons races... You can't do upgrades, but there are plenty of repairs going on. Usually several motor swaps happen at the races etc. The team I helped is on their second motor, and second or third tranny...

Glen, I don't know about you but I'm starting to wonder if Nynor's helmet rule might apply to living in OK.... Never know when something might fall on your noggin...
