I never really have a problem with speed here at Cal Poly. If there is a problem with speed it is the server on the other end like if Pelican is doing a back-up or something. At home I have a normal cable modem so it is a little slower. I guess I can try it out there and see if there is a difference.

Earthlink and internet explorer? This may call for an intervention!

I have a gmail business account too. I like it alot but I was on earthlink for so long that I would need to forward all that stuff to gmail or open another gmail account and give that email out to my contacts. I like how the gmail business has no ads. Yahoo has ads just like earthlink. Is the normal gmail like that too?

OK, the first wave of what I expect to be a flood of "new post in subscribed thread" emails has begun.

Yikes! about 50 emails at once. The flood has arrived. I think I am up to date now.

Dave has his own server, and a gmail account...

When you log into gmail, it has a few ads, but the are very low key. Not all flashy like Yahoo, or Hotmail. I have mail on my mac pull in my email, and I see no ads.

Well, I am good with Solidworks and OK at MATLAB so that means I am good enough with computers I would say. I have learned to deal with Windows Vista so I do not want to update to 7 since it is more like Mac which I do not care for.

That earthlink email is a legacy from long ago.

Where are those M3 pics?

I lost the photos (to a failed hard drive) I have of the neighbor's E36M3 with some Dinan kit. Avus Blue. His brother bought a 335xi and now an E92M3 in Monaco Blue or whatever they call that color that is close to Avus blue but more purple.

It's not so bad. I turned off user account control. Now it is pretty much like XP but looks a lot cleaner. I don't have any of that launcher or gadget stuff. Just a desktop picture and a few bottons on the quick launch menu in the taskbar. Solidworks, IE, flickr uploader, etc.

I use 7 and the new Microsoft Office on some of the school computers. Can't say I am impressed. Seems like too much auto-correct in word and the buttons are in different places. Windows 7 seems to have a different scheme for saving files that I don't like. Libraries and stuff like that.

The key was turning user account control off. It took me a lot of searching through the control panel and help menus until I figured that out. No more asking permission over and over. Do you want to open this file you just clicked on? Yes. Are you sure? YES already. Are you really, really sure? This is an administrative action and all. AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHH.

No more of that.

Haven't seen one of those since my Windows 95 days I think. I got some bad screens but they were not blue. That was when my hard drive died.
