Howdy, Rick.

Evening Vas

vas930 02-21-2012 03:15 PM

Well, I have given up trying to find the gears for the 930.
Looked all over the world without luck.
Most of the good guys in the US have them made an hour from my place in Australia.
Albins, the gear kings wont have any for 3 months.
GT in the US have two but not 4th.
California MS dont have any, and are waiting for Albins.
Ahgrr, I give up.
Just gunna give it a rebuild and be done with it.
Dang it , I wanted those short gears.
Not going to miss all the good weather and events waiting.

Yep, the guy I kept beating around the track in my Boxster S that had a 930 spent a lot on suspension, then used gearing as his excuse. Said the last time he drove it it sprang a huge fuel leak, said he should have just let it catch fire and burn.

Rick V 02-21-2012 03:22 PM

Well Vas, you still have the option of the ring and pinion swap

Stick, I dont know who was driving that thing.
However other than a very small AX track a boxter would keep up with me for about 2 seconds.
The gearing will help, but I dont want to wait.
Even in the twisties its only the new GT3s that give me any drama.

Yes, and its less costly.
But it makes 1st in this old girl useless.
Sort of end up with a short 3 speed. :(

Rick V 02-21-2012 03:36 PM

Taller tires...........

vas930 02-21-2012 03:41 PM

Not the end of the world.
I can do it at the end of the year.
I have a race day on the 17th of march I dont want to miss.
As well as a few track days while the weather is good.
I will put it back in and enjoy the car.

Rick V 02-21-2012 03:51 PM

The best idea yet. :)

vas930 02-21-2012 04:30 PM

HHI944 02-21-2012 05:39 PM

First full day with the kitten was great. Put about 300 miles on her and enjoyed everyone. She's a pleasure to drive.

GH85Carrera 02-21-2012 05:57 PM

Evening guys..... Went and pounded out a few miles on my bike after work. Now I'm beat... Need to take a quiz and look at some statistics problems, but I'm about to crash. May have to give in and nap for a bit...

That is on the agenda. I've got a ton of catching up with work crap so it'll be the weekend before I get a chance.

Hey, Jeff.
Hows the heat up in the Alice. :D

Outback Porsche 02-21-2012 08:10 PM

Hi Vas,

Weather's good, low 30s today with half an inch of rain overnight - whoohoo
We haven't had good rain for about 12 months.
Looks like the rest of the week will be below 40C with more rain coming.
It'd be a great day for golf - to bad work is in the way of having fun again. It looks like I'm not going to get out of here until 7:30 this evening - just love 12hr days!
Bugger 'em they can pay me overtime for this one :D

Bugger about your gears

My fuel hose is still MIA. I'm on the final countdown for putting the 944 on a trailer and transporting it to the new place :(
