Before that I paid off my 914 in 1975 but I sold in in 1995. |
Good morning folks. This morning the sky was blue and there were no clouds. Our pilot will be flying his but off if this weather keeps up. He may have another 40+ flying hour week. I sure hope the weather holds.

BMW dealership had some questionaire company call me to check how happy i was.
Last time they did that, it was for a repair, of which i was happy enough to say "fill in everything with happy and leave me alone" This time i did take my time for it, cause i aint happy For starters i don't have cruise control, they forgot to add that option when they had called me to say i couldn't have the runflats and towing hook.. and that cruise control would be quite handy to have for economical driving. And secondly the suspension and steering on B-1B is chit for fun driving, so all i can do is economical driving.. but now my frigging shin muscles cramp up BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A CRUISE CONTROL! Anyway, gave em the following summary : The new one is to soft, steers really vague, and it wanders at speed.. all in all, it doesn't give me confidence to drive it fast..perhaps this is the new way to get people motivated to drive economically? cause em to get a knot in their stomach and sweaty palms whenever something fast in a corner happens? I would have been quite happy to have kept BF-1 for at least another 3 and a half years, even if that meant i would be out an extra 50 bucks a month of my own money.. The old BF1 was a great car, it handled as good and fun as my Porsche 944S.. the new one unfortunately handles more like a 2 Liter 924.. which wasn't a bad car, but it's hardly a natural succession for the 944.. I'll admit, it's not a Skoda or anything.. but it's just a bleeding shame that i had to trade the old 1 series for this new uninspiring to drive replacement.. They can stick that in their pipe and smoke it. Damn, should have closed with "i think somebody forgot to put in the "freude am fahren" chip into mine" |
I bet it it gets deleted.
|
I know it's a pointless effort, cause the car is already sold, and i had no choice because it's a company car.. It was either that... or a FWD car.. like a VW Golf, or an Alfa or whatever.
Not much snazzycars in that range.. I'de never buy a new car with that kind of money, i'de buy a couple of 944's and spend the remaining 15 K on parts and fuel.. but at least it will show the dealership that it wouldn't hurt to give me some kind sweetner.. like Le Mans tickets or a decent Ring Experience. I already hinted at that. |
How long is the lease maybe when its up the next one will be better.
|
Wow, you sure ***** a lot for someone that has a BMW provided for a company ride...
|
There is that to. I have for shared use a Toyota Camery or Highlander. Both with well over 100k miles on them. I use my RDX for short trips and refuse to use the company cars as much as possible.
|
I'll have a company car starting next month. Last I knew the salesmen were all in trailblazers with nearly 200k on them. I'm afraid to see what they've saved for the interns...

1 Though you may think i get it free , it's actually part of my salary, i work, and in return i get a decent car i can use.. It's a way to pay less taxes on my wage. 2 I have to drive this car for an average of 25000 miles a year. I know, some drive more.. hell, i used to do more then twice that when i was younger.. And just so you'de know, it's not a hobby of mine to sit in Tjams and have days where i drive 600 km round trips to visit a customer.. 3 As a consumer i sure as hell have the right to voice my opinion.. I've made 3 posts here about it, and that was going to be the end of it. This is a car forum... we're all car entousiasts. You'de think we can B!tch about a car if we have something to b1tch about.. It's a 30 grand car. and there are certain parts that seriously suck about it.. Fact of life, worth mentioning. |

On occasion at a restaurant the manager will come to the table and ask how our dining experience as been. My wife gets all bent out of shape if I tell them in my opinion is it was less than I expected. Her getting mad does not stop me from telling the guy the food was bad or the service sucked. If it was good, he will hear that as well.
Don't ever ask my opinion if you don't want to hear my opinion. Don't be offended if you don't like what you hear. It is the truth so just address the problem. |

I'm still confused why you accepted delivery on it if they left things off(cruise), that should have been resolved before you took possession....
My point was that you are still rolling around in a BMW, so don't make it like its all bad. You could be rolling around in a big fat bloated SUV, with crappy seats, terrible handling, a sluggish automatic..... |
because it could not be resolved other then getting a new car built and waiting for it.
the cruise control is annoying but i wasn't going to wait another month and a half jus for that. The chitty handling is not fixable anyway. It's not all bad, i never said it was... like i told BMW, it's not a Skoda. But then again.. it's still something they oughta be aware off. If everybody goes "i'm not going to complain, cause it's better then a bloated SUV" then what will be BMW's incentive to do better? They have a brand name and image that says "freude am fahren" well, with that, they shouldn't design a car with ****ty suspension.. hell, they have always prided themselves for good handling cars.. this one, doesn't do that. |
