Get in it cheap, and you'll have a fun beater for sure. Hard to beat a 944 for cheap fun. Well, maybe a Mk1 gti, but only cause they are cheaper, and you can get em up on 3wheels.

I have seen a 944 lift the inside front tire at an autocross. I thought I was seeing things until the same guy made another pass. Sure enough in one corner there was a slight dip and he would lift the inside tire. I expected to see that on the 911s but not a 944.

With a front top and bottom sway bar I can see it, thatsv surprisingly stiff chassis. Mine might do it with those stiff rear sway bars, it's all about taking the body roll out of the suspension.

The guy is nuts

turns out there's a forum thread on the dutch 44 forum
He introduces how he bought the car early this year, and looking to fix some tidbits
then the thread takes turn when he explains how he has encountered engine problems.
Low and behold another guy comes, says he's seen the car change owners quickly and last saw it at a dealer for 4800 euro.

Turns out he OP bought it for that price
And with all the trouble, he's had it with the car, so he's selling it.

And now he's trying to "feel the market" by listing it for sale on an ad site for 8 000

"to see if there's anybody who would buy it for that price, so he would know if it's worth having it repaired by a shop so he can sell it"

pretty much everybody on the forum is calling him out for his rather flawed logic now.
It's sad really.. the dude has really no chance to ever get 8K, not unless he dumps an extra 6 K in it first..

The best way to recoupe the most money. is to hope for no extra damage internally and try and fix it himself , but he ain't handy. (and doesn't take advice very well from what i can read).
And if not , part it out, and hope for a good quick parts sale
Which ain't all that easy and takes a lot of time and effort, ask me how i know).

or he takes my offer for 1250, eats his loss and moves on.
He said no way.. i said "you know where to find me when you get tired bashing your head against the wall with that flawed business model of yours."

tough break, but that's the way broken car math works.

44S'es are weird, they don't sell well because they more expensive to upkeep, less parts availability for the engine
and a reputation for bad engines, (historically Porsche had to replace a number of engines because of issues).
And they don't have the modern nose, or torque'ier 3.0 engine..

Personally i like em more, because they have the old styling outside.. and the peaky 2.5S engine suits me well..
But not everybody feels the same, so they don't sell as well ..

Rick, somehow this makes me think of you just before your first sip of coffee.

Enjoy the weekend!
