That snake looks cute.

Maybe she has some little baby snake puppies as well! Those are extra cute.

A black snake is not poisones but it will make you sick just because of it's lack of dental hygiene. We only have a couple of snakes here that will kill you. The timber rattler, the copper head, and the cotton mouth.
The only good news about having a big black snake around (or a king snake) is that they will keep the bad ones away. Personally I like a 12ga for that.

OK, I think I have finally crossed the line into being an "enginerd". I realised today that I was excited about getting data from the composite materials lab on Thursday. We had fabricated a flate plate and cut it into coupons that we flexed/pulled and got load vs. displacement row data. I actually enjoyed cleaning up the data and plotting it every which way. It is thereputic to be doing something for an important class and the work is stuff I can actually do easily.

I still like the hard problems- more of a feeling of accomplishment from them. But there is something so relaxing about taking an excel file full of raw data and making nice graphs out of the jumble of numbers and showing the point you were making.

Oh yeah, plus I am bummed. My one friend said she can't make it this weekend and the girl I like now says we should go next week. I asked if she'd like to do anything this weekend but she declined. I did not want to press the matter any more so I just said ok, next weekend. I somehow feel I am getting led on. I need to try to chat with her more next week. Maybe ask her to the farmers market or something. She seems like me with putting other stuff before fun. At least she seemed to be using that as her excuse. Whatever. I will go on the hike tomorrow by myself.

Next Saturday I am going to Laguna Seca for the ALMS race so any socializing will have to be Sunday, which is also Mothers Day. I would not be surprised if she bails on that day too.

So you win, Dave. Things just don't seem to be going my way.

It's OK, Max. Last week I got a little excited doing the same thing for my son's class science project. We plotted distance traveled by a Hot Wheels car against weight (sequentially taped coins onto the roof).

Oooh, good deal. Did the data support the kinetic vs. potential energy tradeoff when using the frictional work (distance travelled) as a measure of kinetic energy?
