It actually isn't in bad shape and he picked the thing up for $150 because the previous owner could not get it running. The kid knows someone and I got it running in a couple of hours.
Dang I wish I had a local mechanic like you around. Actually I do. 98% of my mechanical work I do myself. I do have a friend that is amazing. He has built well over a hundred 911 engines. He has all the machine tools to do 100% of the rebuild in his barn - shop.

One day while I was at the autocross my 911 started cutting out. I made a bee-line for the house and the engine was just running horrible. I called my friend. He stopped by with a spare DME computer. That was not it. I had bought new flywheel sensors but they are a pain to install so I had not done that. He installed my new crank sensors faster that I could have figured out how to get the old ones out. Still no joy so he checked the coil BINGO. I had one of those because I was going to replace it since it was 25 years old. He had my car running like new in no time. He was well compensated for his efforts to come to my garage on a Sunday and heal my car. He did not ask for anything at all but that was NOT gonna happen. I even mailed his wife a gift card to a local restaurant I know he likes. The gift card was enclosed in a thank you card. I addressed it to her as a thanks for letting me borrow her husband for the afternoon. I asked that she treat him to his favorite prime rib dinner there and have one for herself.

Dang, my vacation is almost over.

Today we went to Snowbird and rode the tram to the top. I had just finished a bottle of water. I took a picture of it at the 11,000+ foot elevation. That is Mrs Carrera holding the bottle and rolling her eyes.

After we got back to the room I took this photo of the same bottle.

I wish I had some tape or glue to really seal it. I will tote it home to OKC at 1,200 ft elevation and see what it looks like.

Yes, I am a nerd-geek. I can't help it.

Well finished my last day in the hell hole shop. I am going to miss the people but not the shop or butt munch customers.
I am going in monday to get my replacement transferred with the state police and make sure he can handle the dmv/state computer.

The autocross dinner is tonight. After the meal we likely will head out. There are approximately 1,000,000 different classes and 4th to first trophy. Maybe they will cut it shorter, but I doubt it.

We get up early tomorrow and head for home.

Yea, but Kansas is just part way home!

I just did some math. As of tonight we have driven 2,248 miles. I really felt is was more but that is why we have math. The drive home should be about 1,250 miles. So 3,500 miles or so for the trip. Next year is Travers City Michigan. We need to lure a Travers City resident into the Stijn thread soon. I need another free meal!

Thanks again D. Great beer and great BBQ dinner.

Max, I was thinking you would like the experiment. The tough part is keeping my wife from throwing it out. It does kinda look like trash.

When I went to fill up at the local gas station they were out of premium. So I zipped to the one just a block away. They were out as well. It seems all the Porsche owners sucked up all the 91 close to the hotel. I had to drive 3 blocks to find premium.

Tonight there was free beer. Really. I know now why it was free. They can't sell it, no one likes it.

They also had this stuff on the table.

it is 1.5L. i've kept it all these years (10?) because of the gee whiz factor.

i've decided that ingrid gets nothing but the best available. the conoco at 1300 east and 900 south has 92 octane (91 octane is available elsewhere) with ZERO ethanol in it. my car can definitely tell the difference (limp mode vs. 15 lbs of boost).

I know right? What is that about, Sid? Taking pics of beer at your crotch? Glen? Is that the format?

Glen, I love your nerdy nerd experiment! Tell me you saved the bottle! And personally, I love the pics of the food. yum!

Rick, congrats on the last day at the job. Long time coming.
