Looks like I will have to do some more bypassing of the wiring on the FSAE car. The good news is that the two motor controllers seem to be putting out the same amount of power so the car goes pretty straight when you nail it. The bad news is that there appears to be some cross-talk between the brake light switch and the emergency stop circuit. We bypassed the e-stop button on the brake pedal but that did not solve the issues so I asked the CPE for permission to do a bit of rewiring on the front of the car to cut that whole pedal out of the system to see if that solves the issue. I will see what he says.

I think there may be some questionable grounds as well. When the final start switch is turned on the car sort of lurches and then it was also doing some kind of twitching but the team said it has been like that since the rain test at the competition.

The only thing that will sort out all the issues is when we completely rewire the car with the new frame later this school year.

As it is now it works fine as long as you don't touch the brakes. I said it was fine; I don't need any brakes -- they just slow you down, but Rachel thought it might be a good idea to have them just in case someone steps in front of the car like a crazed rally fan. Plus the car has a turning circle like the Queen Mary (not my doings- blame the guy who made the previous suspension and steering system) so we might need brakes to make multi-point turns.

As it is now, the car powers up and you can use the throttle like normal but when you touch the brake pedal the car stops and shuts off almost like an emergency stop button has been pressed, but at least one motor controller is still energized.

I still got to do a peel-out test. It passed -- no veering one way or the other.

I can also hide it like this if I want by unchecking the "show your signature" box.

About time for bed.

I got my natural gas bill. Pretty much only need gas to heat the water for showers. The bill was $2.45 for fuel. Of course there is a service and equipment fee to deliver the gas. The electric bill will be a bit higher.

Dave, I'm a bachelor this weekend. Want to get together? Hike with the dog? Lunch/Dinner?
