Yeah, but hell they've got some torque and economy. Specially with a turbo on 'em, and they just keep on going.
My old bus has a 3.4L V6 petrol engine, I get 14L/100km out of it. My mates Landcruiser with a 4.5L V8 Turbo Diesel gets 11L/100km (although when he canes it and I match him, the economy is almost the same - marginally in his favor) |

Dammit. :( I'm going to wake up as a zombie.

Cool...Pelican zombies! Just stay outta PARF, there's no brains over there to eat. :D

You are already a vampire, isn't that enough?
|
I was always taught, I should have something on the side.
|
That's prudent, especially given our currently weak economy.

Good Monday morning folks.

I just sent Wayne some money to help pay for the board. ;)
On my trip it rained on us every day of the trip to and from SLC. It always seems to rain on my Parade! Last year when it rained the windshield squirter's worked fine. This year, no joy in mudville. Most of the time it was not a big problem. On the trip home there was one point that we kept coming into areas where it had just finished raining. Lots of spray from other vehicles, no squirter's. I checked the pump and it would not operate even with 12 volts directly to the pump. I pulled the pump and as I was trying to get one of the hoses off it broke the nipple off. It was no doubt the factory original pump so after 27 years and 145,000 miles I get a new pump. The old pump is locked up tight. I might be able to get it pumping again, but not even toothpaste will not fix a broken nipple. The high pressure pump for the headlights is hidden in there somewhere. It seems to have a big leak. I will have to fix that as well. The joys of old cars. |
Hey tweeze and any of you guys that live from OK through AZ, are those sandstorms pretty common throughout the year? Do they show up often in the Spring? I'm thinking about a roadtrip in April or May next year, heading out to SoCal, and I want to avoid sandblasting my 964. Thanks for your advice! SmileWavy

Nope. In AZ, only during the "monsoon" season. Usually starting late July/early August. And sticking around until sometimes september. we do occasionally have these whirlwinds in isolated areas other times of the year but during the monsoon season, it usually is a couple days a week thing if not a daily thing. :)

Thanks tweeze. I want to travel late enough in the Spring to avoid OK/TX ice storms and early enough to avoid the sandstorms. Then we'll just have to dodge the tornadoes and hailstorms.

We have not had a black sky full blown dust storm in many many years. On occasion thw winds really pick up and Texas or Kansas will come to visit us. That is mostly high in the atmosphere. The sky may turn brown, and if it rains it rains reddish brown rain. But we don't get the thick dark sky dust storms like Tweze had pictures of.
I often think on my in-laws living on a farm in rural OK during the 30s dust bowl era. Imagine living in a house with no electricity, no running water, the bathroom is a little building 20 steps from the door. 100+ degree heat and a massive dust storm come through. The houses were not built "tight" so dust would blow right through the doors and cracks in the walls and ceiling. The house is HOT and you can't open a window or door because the house will fill with dirt. Those folks were TOUGH. |
T-storms we have lots of in the spring. They pop up but with modern RADAR they don't sneak up on you unless you are not paying attention.
If you come through OKC I would be happy to meet up with you. |
Woohoo, got second place in the gimmick rally Saturday and then a free pizza dinner. Second place prize is a year's membership in PCA paid for. And all rally participants get a free autocross entry. Made it almost worth the gas spend driving around town for three hours.
|
How much is the PCA renewal now?
I can bring you a check tomorrow if ya want. |
Man this thread moves fast, I leave it for 3 days - 351 posts later. Hope all of you had a great weekend.
Cheers JB |
