This crew made it all the way across the desert without any major dramas. Here's another photo of the car in some bulldust. It's like talcum powder, and it'll grab your wheels and throw your geometry so far off that it's a fight to stop the car going turtle sometimes.

The same crew (from Porsche Australia) then sent a 996 Turbo up to Cape York the following year. Have done that trip in my Prado and at times the water crossings were more than 600mm deep, I again have to tip my hat to the vehicle and crew.

We have lots of red dirt and sand around here. No sand dunes like that

its cool to see a car like that not in its element. the flip side of that is the one I saw dead on the side of the road yesterday. no driver in sight and still there 2 hours later.

he swings that axe better than the rest of the kids in the camp. His strat needs a tune up in order to play shows with. its got really heavy strings SRV style. Big mistake.

Well, the FSAE car works -- sort of.

I took both wires off the master cylinder switch, spliced the two e-stop circuit wires together (no solder this time, just twisted well), removed the switch, and tidied up the wires with electrical tape.

When I turned the car on the green lights were on the controllers but when I hit the throttle nothing happened. After maybe a minute the car moved a twitch on its own (just like 1 turn of the wheels, the same as it did when I turned the second dash switch on. It would not have turned fully if the wheels were on the ground).

After that happened I tried the throttle and it worked fine. Hit the brake, brakes worked. Hit the throttle again, throttle worked properly. Both controllers seemed pretty even.

So, we will make a second attempt at a test drive this week I guess. We can't go very fast or far because of the bad rear tire (a small bulge in it like a separated ply or something.)
