Paul is a nice guy. I find it an honor to say I know him, even as limited as it is.

G'day all,
Had a great morning climbing one of the close mountains with Sharyn and a couple of friends.

Driving home tonight, I passed by a late model beigish Toyota Corolla (not Dave). The license plate read: SITH LD. Sith Lord. There was a Star Wars sticker on the gas cap.

OK, the driver (35-40ish slightly paunchy white guy) may be a big Star Wars fan. He may even work for Lucas. But it struck me as ill-fitting to have this guy in this car have a license plate portraying himself as one of the baddest dudes in the universe, no?

WOW!

Wonderful scenery! How much climbing is that? Looks like you are miles up in the sky.

A lot of up and down (I'll be weary in the legs tomorrow) in a 5km round trip from the car park to the summit, and just under 3hrs to complete (spent a bit of time up there though).

Looks are deceiving, it's only a 300 meter vertical ascent. A geologist friend told me that at one point in the earths history the range was taller than the Himalayas - time and erosion has taken it's toll.

One of the photos has a stone in the foreground with several ripples across it - that same geologist pointed it out to me a few years back. It's a piece of ancient sea bed.

Jeff, they are wonderful photos, great scenery. Hope to get across some of the painted deserts and canyon country here in the USA whilst we are here.

Where the hell in OZ are you?

OK, I know looks can be deceiving (note Yoda), but in general all the bad guys at least look badarse. This guy looked more like a Death Star cafeteria worker than evil mastermind.
