I know you remember 23 Jan, 1968. The Pueblo was captured by North Korea.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Pueblo_(AGER-2)

They had standard procedures to flip one switch and instantly tell the White House of the impending capture. The main problem was no one in the military was notified. When the White house called the Pentagon no one knew anything about it. By the time the Air Force & the Navy were told the capture was done.

My dad was stationed on remote TDY in South Korea. We were living in OKC for the supposed year while he was away. After 6 months of being away from us he had been back for two days for his visit with the family when the Pueblo was seized. In the middle of the night the Air Force came to our house and stole my dad for another year. He was supposed to be home for several weeks. We one saw him for a day. Dang Koreans.

Oh, sorry about that.

Porsche-poor 11-28-2012 06:46 AM

Sid, make sure to spend some time in Duluth.

I spent some time in Redwood Falls this summer, and I have no interest to see more of remote Minnesota... I'm not leaving the airport....

Minot was another regular stop. When they listed several possible places for his next duty tour Hawaii was on the list. He thought about it for almost a full second. We moved to Hawaii before it was even a State.

Don't think I will leave Brookings, SD for the next two weeks, and I'm perfectly ok with that....

GH85Carrera 11-28-2012 08:47 AM

Chicken!

You need to make a long drive up there just see the place and say been there done that.

Still gotta think of a name for her before I pick her up.
I can't believe how much I've missed having a dog...

GH85Carrera 11-28-2012 09:19 AM

She is a cutie.

tweezers74 11-28-2012 09:25 AM

Joe! She is so cute! Hmmm... I will think of possible names.

Gonna attempt a 10 mile run today. Half marathon is on Sunday. I think this is the worse shape I have been before a half marathon. Even the one that I did five months after I had my son. My head hasn't been into the training. :( I have another run the following weekend too. Only a 6 miler. The last run of the month I had to bail out of. I am taking my sons to Polar Express. It is this cool train ride where you take it for a couple of hours and then when you arrive, you are "at" the North Pole and the kids get to meet Santa, the elves, all that junk. I have never gone but you have to buy your tickets way in advance. I mean like a year in advance. My ex bought the tickets so we are all going to together. I have to give it to him. He has really tried hard for the boys lately. What's up with you guys needing a hard kick in the arse before doing that? Anyway, should be fun for the boys.

Now to go kick the arse out of my body and kill this 10 miles...

GH85Carrera 11-28-2012 09:58 AM

Why run for 10 miles?

Did your car break?

HHI944 11-28-2012 10:24 AM

She's a little demon. She plays pretty rough with the guys German shepherds. When I was there she took off running with one of the gsds behind her, ducked under a trailer at the last minute and the gsd just slammed straight into it

Went to buy a christmas tree today, had to go swap Marilyn for the Durango, couldn't fit one in. And I just hear her coming into the garage now. Time to cook for the hard working hubby,

Jim Richards 11-28-2012 01:39 PM

Good luck with Marilyn's inspection, Azzy. :)

That is a fun project. I put a new switch in mine back in 1996. The factory switch lasted 11 years. The replacement has lasted 16 years. I did put in the headlight relay mod many years ago. Hopefully I will not have to do the stalk anytime soon.
