Btw, if you use only one rudder on one side, the turning radius will be tight on the side the rudder is on and larger when turning the other way.

Best to use two rudders in your setup, just need to trim them down a bit.

Yeah, need to pick up a new hinge tomorrow for it. I think a single centered rudder is gonna do very nicely.
No fuel tank issues except when nosing it down a bank with low fuel, otherwise, runs beautiful.....gotta sort that hinge and throw a new prop on....the wooden on splintered when I rolled it.

I'm truly impressed by grass speed....it rockets down the fairways. Water speed is as anticipated and the very far rearward CoG worked nicely

Think of airplanes when designing the rudder(s). Planes do not have large rudders, because at cruising speeds, they don't need a lot of surface area to turn. Air boats are almost the same, though, they do suffer from drag at low speeds more than airplanes do, so the surfaces have to be a little larger. Also, while taxing on the ground, a plane usually has a nose wheel that is attached to the rudder cable to help turn.

Which is why I chose so much surface area, wanted low speed maneuverability. I'd assume because of the water tension and drag, I was not able to roll it in water with the dual rudders...I think it'll be just right on the single rudder. Lots of fun fine tuning, need to get a new battery for the flight box though, having to go back to the truck to restart is tiring...

I just couldnt keep the dual rudders from binding at the linkage.....going to one seems the easiest move

Have a pic of the setup? I think you'll find the single rudder to be problematic.

Yes! I was talking to a coworker on the phone and she asked me where I was and I had to pause and think about it! I am on a plane right now. And tomorrow, driving three hours.

Nope, but the linkage was abour 2/3 the way up, used the same horn for servo control and they were about half way back front to rear....

Maybe if I threw them all the way to the rear with a a separate horn towarfs the front for servo control?

Look back at the pix I posted. Seperate horn on one rudder for control. Linkage was on two seperate horns.

I saw that, I think I'm gonna move the linkage horns all the way back to the rear then put one up by the leading edge for control. I need new hinges though, the ones I have are just to loose.
