We just had a pretty big earthquake. Mid to high fives for sure maybe a 6. Just a guess. I will know more when the news reports it.

No damage here that I can see but the walls rattled and the door to my closet in the office rattled for 30 seconds. It was strong enough to feel it in the floor.

It's kind of cold here in SoCal. Mid40s and the threat of rain. It really feels like Christmas .
What do you mean "threat of rain?" Have you actually looked outside yet?

The epicenter was 5 miles northeast of our house and the USGS says it was a 4.5. The epicenter is right next to the lake and they are thinking the recent drought then wet weather that filled the lake is causing the earthquakes.

That's interesting. The Oklahoma GS reports the quake was 4.8 and near Guthrie north of here, and USGS says 4.5 and east.

i hear ya, david. its been so bitter here. our furnace ran for two hours straight, trying to heat the house from 62F to 68F. it is a balmy 28F outside, up about 10 degrees from yesterday.

HHI944 12-07-2013 11:47 AM

i've been looking to see what the job market for what i now do is like, there and in georgia. i really like what i am doing, which amounts to solving puzzles all day and interacting with people who are pretty damn intelligent.

that said, my field is very new, so the jobs exist and they want people with some experience, but there aren't many places doing what we do YET. i am thinking that, next year, i'll put my resume out there and see what happens.

with all the changes to healthcare, and not just the ACA as it has been happening for about 10 years now, every hospital in the nation will have a department doing what we do. it will be a feeding frenzy to find people with some experience. i am probably going to get CPC certified, as that will guarantee me a job just about anywhere and my current employer will pay for the instruction and the tests and the continuing education.

nynor 12-07-2013 12:17 PM

holy cow! i just found a job search keyword that brought up tons of stuff related to what i do! part of the issue with the job search, is that the field is so new that every place that has that department calls it something different.

Rick V 12-07-2013 12:26 PM

So where you gonna move D?

nynor 12-07-2013 12:31 PM

someplace warm with less pollution than here. my wife's asthma is getting out of hand.

i am looking at georgia and SC and texas, mainly.

it might be a three year plan, as that is how much experience most of the hospitals want.

It was 6 or so this morning. The central heat keeps the house warm with no problem.

We are prepping for the ice. They are calling for 1-3 inches of snow and sleet then 1/4-3/4 of freezing rain on top of that

Don't blame us for sending it your way. We have the possibility of more crap tonight. I am ready to send it all away. We usually send it to Arkansas or Missouri.

Noah930 12-07-2013 01:03 PM

Man, I was just irritated it was raining this morning. Now the sun's out.

RKDinOKC 12-07-2013 01:12 PM

It's my considered opinion Sushi was invented by a hungry person that could catch fish but not smart enough to make fire.

Just because you have to be dared to try it and it doesn't kill you doesn't make it gourmet.

RKDinOKC 12-07-2013 01:14 PM

Watching extreme cheapskates, there is a big difference in saving money and being just plain nuts.

Yeah, it started to rain steadily while look_171 was here. Now it's clearing and is windy. Ho ho ho! :D
