Holy dog crap, that stupid chest was a pain in the rear to assemble.....somewhere in the vicinity of 7 trillion bolts.

That chest would go nicely in my kitchen, if there was room.
I've got your plain old run of the mill red craftsman tool chest. Got a couple of years after college. Seem to remember the only assembly was putting the wheels on it. My brother doesn't have any tool chest or tool boxes. Instead he has these duffle bag looking tool bags. One for each type of job he is planning to do, i.e.. plumbing, mechanical, electrical, finish carpentry, car repair, etc. If he is working on one of those types of jobs and the tool he needs is in another bag, he gets a new one so he has was he needs to do what the bag is for. Think it is so he can cart tools to his kids to help work on their projects. Me, I just make trips to the garage to grab the tool I need.

It has been off and on snowing and sleeting all day. Looks like there is only about 2 inches accumulation by watching the dog go out and do her stuff. I have no idea what the roads are like outside my neighborhood. Usually there is enough traffic to keep the out of neighborhood streets clear, but this being a Sunday, maybe not so much. Haven't seen any traffic or evidence of down my street.
Just got an email from the HR director that Kimray is open for 3rd shift tonight and tomorrow despite the condition of the roads. Three years ago the company offered bad weather pickup service if you called in. Seems with double the number of employees they aren't doing that any more.

My boss offered that one year for me since I would not come to work. You see its down hill from my house to any major road. He called from the bottom and said see you in a few days. Seems his 4x4 couldn't get up the hill.

To keep out of debt in college, sold all 4 of my cars. At that same time my Grandmother passed and my Mom got her car and let me drive it when I was home from school...A 65 Ford Galaxy 500.
![]() Quite the hot rod for a grandma to drive 3 blocks to Church on Sunday. She got it new and had to learn to drive after Granddad passed in 1965. Granddad's Caddilac was too big for her. Had to replace the dual exhaust pipes every year because she never got it hot enough to burn the condensation out. Don't know why but there was a green stuffed toy dragon whose eyes lit up red when you hit the brakes on the back deck. And a bobble head bull dog on the dash along with one of those swivel mount compasses. Go Grandma. Anyway, that winter we had a LOT of snow and ice during Christmas break. Took the Galaxy to pick up some friends to go Christmas shopping/partying. They were building a new highway and had the giant mound of dirt with about half a block of flat on top. It kind of overlooked the area and more importantly was the highest place around and nobody could see you parked up there. So, drove the 150 ft up to the top and we parked for a while enjoying our beers and smokes taking a break from shopping. We kept hearing engines rev and tires spinning but didn't think much of it as the roads were nasty and slick. As we left, driving down off the top we noticed a group of 2 Jeeps and a 4x4 truck that had obviously been taking turns trying to make it up to where we were. They all looked at us in shock as we drove down the steep ice and snow covered slope they had been trying to climb.

We will be closed tomorrow. The roads suck. The guy I work with got stuck in his neighborhood and had to walk 1/4 mile home.

So far been pretty happy with the way the Rover with Wranglers on it gets around in the slick stuff. Especially since that's what a bought it for. No reason to get out in it today though.

Morning Y'all. Woke up to temps just below freezing and heavy rain that had some sleet in it. Now it has gotten very very quiet as snow makes no noise. We are on a two hour delay, I expect we will close.

Mertnin.
Pushed my trash out to the curb this morning. The crunch of the snow made it seem colder somehow.

The temperature has more than doubled. It is up to 7 now. The sun is out but not much melting going on. I guess I will go shovel a layer of snow off the layer of sleet and ice. Maybe there will be some melting. I doubt it will help a lot.

Ut oh, some employees are going to be upset. HR director sent an email yesterday evening telling everyone the company would be open no matter what. When some of them showed up at 6am this morning there was a closed sign on the door.
I'm confused, IT help tickets of users not being able to logon to their computers in various locations around the plant this morning are rolling in. Didn't have any trouble going in to my office this morning. Friday sucked. Spent all day trying to get internet to work properly. DNS was all wonky. ISP blamed it on my registrar, Registrar blamed it on my ISP. When ISP finally sent a guy out it was working again within 10 minutes, yet he claims they didn't do anything. Yeah, right. Bet they remotely reset the tables on a router or two. Friend of mine worked on a proposal several years ago to set up the pay per view on demand for the cable companies. He said it was really challenging because most of the internet was mapped. Meaning there existed an actual map of which router was connect to which routers that make up the internet UNTIL you got into the cable system. Says no one documented anything. The company hired young people fresh out of school, then let them go so there was no one to be accountable for what was connected where. Really shows up when they are troubleshoot problems like I had Friday. They had to send a guy to my physical address to log in and trace the route to my servers to find which routers to reset.
