Oi
Did the timing on the Lotus after replacing the CAS oil seal and the blanking plug oil seal which was leaking bad....
Not horrible, but not exactly fun. Had to break out the jumper cables to extend the leads for the timing light because the battery is under the top storage compartment....and the stupid timing mark is more of a microscopic nick...

couldn't get to it...the patch on the wheel where it goes by the timing marks is maybe 2" long and it's the only area that isn't covered....so if the timing nick isn't visible you're boned for marking it.

Thought you were supposed to use enamel fingernail polish to fill the groves to make the timing marks more visible.

I just use white touch up paint on the Elky timing mark. I use my timing light only if I yank the distributor. I have not used it since I did the engine swap on the Elky 26,000 miles ago.

I have not need my dewll meter since I sold my 914 back when Sid was in diapers.

Good Thursday morning folks.

I broke the news to Mrs Carrera that the scissor jack is on the way. I think she will notice the jack under the Elky and the 12 ft long 2x12s along side of it.

The trucking company called the house and left a message that the delivery is set for Monday. My OOMA answering machine gizmo automatically forwards all messages to my cell phone and Mrs. Carrera's phone. She was a little worried when I told her a large truck with a lift gate was bringing me a new toy um er tool. Her only question was where I was going to store it.

A scissor jack sounds like a cool toy Glen.

Morning all.

Having a fun holiday, seeing lots of nice stuff, eating and drinking lots of nice stuff. Lots of walking in the wilderness. A bit of casting practice (with the fish laughing at me).

Currently stranded in Hobart as I've torn a CV boot on the Tojo. It's in a shop gettin repaired overnight (gettin them to do a 10k interval service on her at the same time, as it was gunna be needed to be done before we made the trek north on the mainland anyways).

Got woke up by a train, so I'd thought I'd check in and say g'day.

G'day.

Keep having fun. It sounds like the repair budget on the Tojo is high for this trip. Ah, its just money. That is what its for.

Ah, I see. You are being one of those travelers for whom breakdowns make the trip memorable.

Is that what they call "Going Walkabout"?

I'd rather not be having to spend money on the old girl while on holidays, but she is old and if I'm gunna be stuck somewhere this is not too bad a place. Plenty to do and see and not too hard to get around.

Besides it was time to stop and do some laundry (exciting stuff, as Glen would say)

Oh yeah, going walkabout is when you pi55 off randomly and not tell anyone where you're going or why

Oh, and 'to pi55 off' is to leave

Don't know if you use that expression over there or not?

Pissed off is when you get mad because you feel like someone pissed on you.

Getting pissed is the same thing, mad, unlike England where pissed just means drunk.

So, if your vacation travel plans change due to mishaps, breakdowns, etc. wouldn't those plans have gone Walkabout?
