I remember a lady I worked with that got a real job with a national company. She was all excited because she was going to "get" to travel. After a year she was burned out and managed to get a different job at the same company that did not require so much travel. The first few flights are fun. The next few dozen, not so much.

Good Tuesday morning folks.

I gotta get back to looking at pictures of the ground.

I wish I got to fly more glen. Today is an 8hr drive deep into NM for just a few meetings. Luckily I have intern with me this week so he can drive while I get work done.

Our previous lab was the most laid back dog I have ever seen until there was an animal she could hunt. Then it was full bore everything. When we moved back to WI from CA we stayed at mom and dad's until we found a house and they have a walnut orchard just off the back yard with lots of squirrels. One squirrel had gotten on the wrong side of the dog and was trapped between the dog and the house so it took off with the dog hot on its heels and up on the back patio it went up the center trim on the sliding glass door. The dog realized too late that she couldn't stop and slid sideways into the glass doors. We thought she was coming into the house she hit so hard. She had a terrible time with target fixation.

Our new lab is like Joe's. Run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run............drink run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run run............

My doberman that I had back in my single days was a runner. I would take her up to the park just down the street from my house. I would set her loose and she would just run like the wind. When I see a movie the hero (or bad guy) has a short lead on a doberman and runs to jump over something. My doberman would catch up in seconds. Sometimes I don't think the movies are very realistic.

I'd think it would be very distracting to have someone washing it during a meeting.

When this golden was younger she would run all out back and forth from one side of the house to the other going from fence gate to fence gate. She went by the back door so fast it was just a flash of yellow. Once she went around the corner of the house in a flash after a squirrel. There was this horrifying "WOOF" sound then she immediately came trotting back around the corner proud as can be carrying a dead squirrel.

My other golden, the best dog ever, would run full speed in big circles when I said, "Run run run" and made a big circle motion with my hand. She would also dig when I said "Dig" and pointed to where I wanted her to dig. She would have been great helping Glen make holes. I still miss that dog.

I likes the ones on Magnum PI. Apollo and Zeus?

A lot of people don't realize just how quick a dog can get up to speed and how long some can stay there at speed. We had a very overweight beagle when I was young and he could run seemingly forever.

Sure Glen, next thing you will tell us WWE isn't real either.

Friend was a quail hunter and had a bird dog. It would work for about 45 minutes then would just take off running. He would get called a couple of days later and go pick up his dog from wherever it stopped, sometimes 20 miles from where she took off. He found out later the dog was hypoglycemic and when her blood sugar dropped she would lose her mind and just run. Stopped it by feeding her treats while hunting with her.

We had a pointer for a while when I was a kid living at home. The girl next door was 12 and into dogs. Her parents would not allow a her to have a dog of her own. She would borrow our dog and go ride her bike around the base perimeter road. That was 14 miles. The dog would just happily trot along. She would bring him home and he would drink a bowl of water, rest 20 minutes and he wanted to go again. We finally gave that dog to a hunter that loved bird hunting. He said that dog instantly learned to point birds and loved going hunting.

We were all happier, the dog and us.

Nephew and I took a canoe out on a lake. As we approached the middle of the lake we realized my dog was paddling along behind us. I had heard of dogs swimming until they got so tired they drowned so we quickly took the canoe back to the nearest shore. The dog huffing and puffing right behind. As we approached the shore she ran up out of the water and up and down the shore. Not a bit tired. The next time out we put her in the canoe before we paddled out.

Evidently Popeye could take him in a spinach patch then.

Only one that can beat Popeye all hopped up on spinach is Chuck Norris.

When Popeye eats his spinach, Chuck Norris might as well be Wimpie.
