Brent as the law was stated you are being charged for the run off by the amount of surface you have, I don't live in Charlottesville so I am not totally up on it. The thing that gets me is how do they figure the amount of water to bill a person for. I mean if they get a inch of rain on the north side does the south side get billed too? Yet another reason I am leaving here

Glen, would linux mint be an option for your MIL? it looks and acts like windows without most of the visual crap

flipper35 12-12-2014 08:53 AM

It is pretty country though.

Sorry Glen, MIL.

When I last upgraded the computer wouldn't boot. The MB did not recognize the newer processors without a BIOS update. We went round and round a couple times when they would tell me to update the BIOS and I said I would as soon as then sent the chip. Can't update the BIOS if I can't boot the computer.

That is about what I had to do to set up the RAID. The BIOS has changed from the time the instructions were printed and the instructions are just wrong. I had to go in and delete the RAID reboot and make a new RAID and then follow some goofy steps to get Windows to see the RAID. The instructions even said to load the RAID driver for Windows with a floppy. I finally got a USB drive to work for the driver and all was good.

I love it when they say insert a floppy with your hardware's driver. I do have a computer around with a floppy, but my newer boards don't have the connector.

Some will let you do it from the optical drive, that isn't too bad and USB is really the easiest.

Bummer I missed the service manager at Subi of Tucson, he took a long weekend, so now I have to sit over the weekend, I don't wait well.
Do they even make floppy drives any more?

GH85Carrera 12-12-2014 12:55 PM

Bummer Rick.

flipper35 12-12-2014 01:16 PM

I first took that to read you missed getting the job. Now as I read it it isn't so bad. I understand about the waiting.

The way they set Subaru up, with the requirements for training I am a steal, they don't have to fork out the money to get me to 70% since I am already over 90%. I am able to hit the floor running, makes me very marketable.

flipper35 12-12-2014 01:53 PM

As long as you don't show up like your avatar. Then again, Subaru. :)

Actually, I like their cars for the most part but they do have a reputation for Kelly McGillis types.

Rick V 12-12-2014 01:55 PM

You can ask Stijn about my avatar, that was his doing and a dare. That pic is from the beginning of this thread

flipper35 12-12-2014 01:59 PM

I know, I had to read every stinking post on this thread and about two pages left I think D said that requirement should be relaxed and I was like no way, I had to do it so can the rest. Most of it is probably fresher in my mind than most of ya'll.

That's why I was hesitant to give a full frontal selfie. You guys got a side profile instead.

Rick V 12-12-2014 02:05 PM

I hope we entertained you

flipper35 12-12-2014 02:15 PM

Oh, it was interesting. D and the mushrooms was good info. Max and dating, that was bang head on the wall time. Schumi, well....

G visiting was a good surprise with SLO Dave.

Joe and his dating was, well, interesting. Stijn had the best advice there.

Sid got all growed up and out of college into the real world and somehow ended up with Tweeze. Must have been some weird star alignment going on. No offense Sid and Thuy, but Sid sure got the gold mine on that one and she got...Sid and a well prepared 944. :)

Richards foot, nipple lube, pilots license, guitars for everyone. G building an engine, Stijn and his company rally cars...

Thought about looking a couple guys up on our trip to CA last year but realized I knew you all pretty well but no one knew me yet.

Rick V 12-12-2014 02:20 PM

G showing up here was great, he is an awesome guy, and crazier in person that you would think. Had a blast with Dave, and I still giggle thinking about him finding out he could drink in a car in va as long as he isn't driving.
Where are you anyway Brent? I am thinking Ohio but thinking was never my strong suit

flipper35 12-12-2014 02:30 PM

I was thinking he was pretty crazy already, it is more so?

SW Wisconsin. You are probably thinking Ohio because we were there on vacation at the WPAFB Museum and just missed you being there by a couple weeks. Then we went to Erie and Buffalo. Had we had more time I would have looked up Dave (Targa something) the spoonsmith while we were that far out. Pete was too far further and didn't want to get snowed on. Snow seems to follow him everywhere.

We lived in El Centro (my wife was born and raised there) for a while but I was born and raised here and we moved back. 20 miles from the Mexican border was not that great for raising kids. Believe it or not, there are a lot more activities here for outdoors than we had back in CA. Hunting, fishing, swimming, canoeing, hiking. We like all that stuff. Well, my wife doesn't hunt but does the rest of us do. This year our 5 year old was having the best day ever when we went deer hunting. Dad just had both hips replaced so he and our boy walk together on the outside if we drive the woods. Works out a good match.

Mom had family near Tuscon.

Well, that rambled a bit. Off I go with a group for some tender dead cow to eat and I am not buying. :)

You all have a good weekend.

Rick V 12-12-2014 02:36 PM

You would have had fun trying to catch David (Targa) in Erie or Buffalo since he live outside of Pittsburgh.
Petes is a super nice guy. Beth and I ran over to the valley and had breakfast with him a couple of years ago when he was passing through. He didn't bring snow with him that time but he did manage a thunderstorm for me to drive through and that was not too fun with slicks on the car

HHI944 12-12-2014 02:39 PM

Yeah, I've been known to make poor decisions from time to time.....oh well

Rick V 12-12-2014 02:50 PM

I only make poor decisions on days that end in Y
