Mornin', y'all. I don't have any fallen limbs or a fireplace. And that Oz sky looks bleak.

This morning, I was walking our attack schnauzer and we happened upon a couple of deer standing among some trees on the edge of our apartment complex. To Kiera, they must've seem like tall dogs, so she started running fast to greet them. After she ran forward about 10-15 feet, I put the brake on her retractable leash, halting her rapid advance that startled the deer. We were no more than 20 feet apart from them. They looked at us, we looked at them, and then Kiera and I walked off in a different direction to let them be. We never had an experience like that when we lived downtown.

She would be in canine heaven. She wants to play or chase every critter...deer, rabbits, and especially squirrels. I'm sure she'd chase a skunk if she happened upon one. Muhahahaha!

It was 7pm, 35C, and about 60% humidity, with a dust storm fronting a thunderstorm. It's a much nicer 23C now the storm has passed.

I came home to pack for a flight to Darwin tomorrow. I'm gunna be breathing air you can cut with a knife for a few days as it'll be 32C and 100% humidity (and pi55ing cats and dogs). I'll be lucky to leave the hotel.

Since no more limbs have fallen for a full 24 hours I started letting Pepper out in the back yard full of limbs. She is in puppy heaven, running, bobbing, ducking, diving and leaping thru the debris. She randomly stops to bite a leaf, stick or limb, chew on it, attempt to rip it up, then bound off again. If anything she is chasing takes to the underbrush it is not going to slow her down one bit.

Morning all.

This is just some of the mess I dealt with yesterday. It is mostly cut down into pieces I can haul around. I drug it to the west part of the backyard to get it out of my way. I will drag it all to the front yard next weekend and "let" the city come pick it up and haul it away.

I bought a pair of Wells Lamont PVC coated work gloves 20 years ago or so. I carry them in the El Camino in case I have a flat during bad weather. They were VERY helpful yesterday dealing with wet and ice covered tree limbs. I also have some waterproof hiking boots I use when it snows or is icy. Those were a lifesaver. My feet were dry after a long afternoon of stomping in wet and ice covered ground.

This is the least damaged of the mature trees. I think we can save it. The big tree in the back yard is history. The tree in the top photo is (supposed to be) in my neighbor's yard and it is a gonner as well. At least one fence panel and likely two are destroyed.

We have one small area of gutter damage and I will need to inspect the roof to see if the tiles were damaged when one limb hit the house. I think it is OK. For some reason I did not feel like climbing up there in an ice storm.

All this week of rain is supposed to be the remnants of a hurricane. We have had the second wettest year on record and we have a month to go yet. It will not take much to be the wettest year ever. The drought is totally and completely and redundantly over. (I am a member of the "stamp out and eliminate redundancy movement")

My rain gauge is a neat little weather station. It is on a pole in the back yard that measures temperature, humidity, wind speed and rain fall. It was coated in ice and failed to record some of the rainfall.

It has been cold and miserable here also. Since Wednesday. Not geared up for this kind of negativity in my life.

We have sunshine in the forecast. Mid 50s and sunny sounds like a nice change for the rest of the week.

Instead of stacking wood spent the day yesterday helping brother fix his Honda Odyssey the went dead. No lights or nuthin and he just kept trying to start it and cuss. Thankfully he drove back to Tulsa today! Yippee I can return to sanity.

It was very weird. Initially the battery showed dead with my meter. Put my charger on it and the battery showed charged but still nuthin worked. Disconnect the charger and it would go back to dead on the meter. Disconnected the battery and battery itself showed good and fully charged with both my meter and the charger. Cleaned the posts and hooked it up and went back to looking dead. Even when I put my meter directly on the posts.

Checked fuses and all good.

Looked on-line and found it was a symptom of a bad immobilizer ground and the fix was to slam the doors and hood a few times. Did that then when I hooked the charger to the battery leads the alarm went off and the battery came alive even when disconnecting the charger. Turned off the alarm with the keyfob and the battery went back to reading dead like you flipped a switch.

I would reconnect the charger and Bob would immediately hit the button on his keyfob putting it right back to dead mode. Finally took his keys away from him. Hooked up the charger and attempted to put the key in and start the car with the alarm going off, the alarm quit and the battery stayed up after disconnecting the charger. It all acted normal after that. Took a while to discover the undocumented sequence.

Must be some feature of the immobilizer. AND the combination of slamming the doors and attempting to start the car while the alarm was going off reset it. But don't understand how it made the battery look dead? Especially when the immobilizer is only supposed to turn off the fuel pump.

Really weird the next door neighbor had a visiting family member from Vegas that their non Honda SUV was doing the same thing. Then it just started working again. Maybe something to do with the freezing and wet weather?
