Stijn!!
Looks like we are getting a pup.... I told Thuy we could get one when she got a job in town... Well she starts Monday so we went to look at a shelter today and found a little schnauzer she and the boys just fell in love with. He's getting his nuts cut on Tuesday then we can pick him up. He's 4 yrs old. Seems very well adjusted on the few hours we spent with him, not sure if he's house trained but he did seem to know a few basic commands when I was with him. Hopefully he will be easy to get adjusted to the new home.
He's on the small side too, maybe has some terrier mixed in?

Schnauzers scare me ever since Jims tried to eat my face off for simply being a polite guy.
Good rescue Sid, most mature dogs never get a home

That there kiera look a like a dog from down under. Ya get Kiera from Jeff? Oh sorry, pic just shows up upside down for me.
I don't do no cuttin or choppin, just drag them limbs to the curb an toss em in a pile. And I've had some really big ones come offa that cottonwood tree. First really big limb I had fall I spent a lot of time and energy cuttin it up, next ones just dragged em and was done wid it. Did feel like I was trainin for World's Strongest Man though.

The city only pick us up limbs 6 feet or shorter. We have several long ones. Gonna have to be cut up. Heck I would need a draft horse to drag them.

City says storm debris collection is different than big trash collection and should be no longer than 12 ft.

Well in case anyone is interested, lumberjack is NOT a profession I aspire to. I will not be a professional lawn sprinkler repairman or lumberjack or gay prostitute. I tried the first two, I just "KNOW' the last is not for me.
That resembles work. I managed to get all the hanging limbs down and drag the big crap to the west end of my yard. It is too wet and cold to mess with dragging them to the curb. The big pear tree is history. It is damaged too much. We will indeed hire a real professional to remove the tree. No way can I handle that job. It was a "perfect" storm. Early in the season and the first real winter weather. The tree was just loaded with green leaves. Too much weight when covered in ice.

Glen/Richard-I've dealt with tree limbs many times and it sucks no matter what you do with them. Unless you hire it out, then it probably doesn't suck so bad except for your wallet.
I cut up any limbs that come down in our yard and use it for firepit material. If my chainsaw isn't enough, my neighbor has a better one.

We have a fireplace, but it has a gas log fake log setup. No way to burn real wood. And Bradford pear tree wood is lousy wood to burn anyway.
Richard was right. We can drag 12 foot limbs to the curb to be picked up for free. I have a large pile for them.

I generally drag all my limbs out in the back feild for an annual/semi-annual huge burnpile.....30' flames that light up the whole property.

Offered my next door neighbor that has no tree limbs in his yard if he wanted all of mine for his fireplace as I know he likes to burn wood. He laughed and said, No thanks that's stuff is cottonwood. It burns up as fast as I can stuffed it in there. Not worth carrying from the yard to the fireplace let alone hacking into firewood. Gave him my chain saw years ago when I found the city would pick up the big limbs (well, and I couldn't get the worthless piece of junk started).
He says he was hoping the storm would have taken down the only tree left in his yard, but it has already lost it leaves so it didn't lose even a twig. The firemen in our area has been clearing the limbs out of the streets. Lots of people in town still without power. Just try lighting a pile around here and the city will smile and charge more in fines than it would cost to pay someone to whittle toothpicks out of it.

Morning Y'all
I use the fallen limbs in my fireplace, since I don't have any pine trees it works out well. Free kindling, in the summer time we chuck them in the fire pit when we sit outside.

Good Morning!!
The closest I have to a fire pit is most noticeable after consuming a hot and spicey meal and has a boggroll mounted on the wall next to it. Though lighting it may be practiced by some it's not recommended as the resulting explosion may level the houses in a five mile radius. Spraying fabreeze or any other perfume or air freshener just seems to aggravate it. Best to flush often, clean well, leave the area as soon as possible being sure to close the door behind you, and most importantly allow ample time for the toxic fumes to dissipate before re-enternig the area.
