David, good luck. Maybe your boss won't have a job instead?

My biggest problem is that I can't relocate if that is required for the new firm. Guess we hope that they keep this office open.

We'll keep a couple of fingers crossed for ya.
Why is autotype changing words when the words I type are perfectly good words to start with?

David, back in the 1980 we had a big oil bust much like 2015. Many companies were buying each other and consolidating and fire sale prices. The few companies that saved the huge profits they had been making were buying the over extended and failing companies. A friend of mine was at a small oil exploration company. The company he worked for was purchased and he got to keep his same job but had a different logo on his paycheck. That company was purchased and it just kept happening. He had a great t-shirt that said I work for: and the names of 6 companies were crossed out and the last one was Devon. He managed to survive through it all and ended up at a top level company. We was very lucky and I guess he must have been really good at his job.
In all those company changes they liked the office he was in and they just changed the sign out front and he never had to changes desks. He retired just as Devon was ready to move everyone into the new 52 story Devon tower and consolidate the operations. Maybe you will get lucky as well.

Get off my lawn!

Jeff, my brother is an avid bow hunter. He has a 1974 VW camper. He has had it since 1976 or so. He uses it for deer hunting. More than a few times he has raised up the camber in the rear and fit oversize tires and snow chains and gone into some very muddy areas to hunt. He loves telling the story of driving into one area and setting up camp on a very cold night. One of his buddies managed to get back into the area in his 4 wheel drive pickup. He was sleeping in the back of that pickup about to freeze to death by morning. My brother woke up and fired up the gas powered heater to warm the camper up and was cooking a nice steak and eggs for breakfast when his buddy knocked on the door shivering. He came in and warmed up as he ate a MRE. After they got back home his buddy went out and bought a VW camper. That was back in the 1990s when they were still available for reasonable prices.
Good Tuesday, no longer Monday morning!

Talked to an old mechanic dude about the gasoline heaters that used to even come on Porsches. Was asking about the gasoline heater option available on all the Cayennes, though I've never actually seen one in the wild. Discusses it in my manual. He said he hoped they were made from better materials as they were always having to replace the older ones because they corroded themselves from the heat they created. The gasoline heater is supposed to work as long as you have more than 1/4 tank of gas.
My Cayenne has a REST feature. You can turn it on after you remove the key. It runs the water circulation, heater blowers, and thermostat as long as the block water is warmer than the interior of the Cayenne. Use it to keep the Cayenne warm while getting groceries when it's cold out. Haven't actually looked if was still on when getting back almost and hour later, but do notice it is still warm. Though not much of a test will try it at lunch today. Turn it on and see if it still going when I get back from eatin.

My wife's old 1999 E320 Mercedes had that keep the car warm feature. If it is cold enough out to need that it only worked for 30 minutes. By then everything had cooled off too much to help much.

Thank Rick but that is the problem. I am not in a position to relocate. The better half is a partner in the number two law firm in Tacoma.
