We survived the sleepover.

Surprisingly, everything went well. The girls were all well behaved and they all got along.

I'm not sure as our son has never had any friends over to stay.

Closest to sleep overs I had growing up were called camping trips and lasted from Friday Evening until Sunday Evening. And we each cooked our own food.

I had lots and lots of sleep overs as a kid. Sometimes I went to some other kids house and lots of times they came to our house. My dad was gone a lot on TDY duty or just on a long mission to fly to the other side of the world. We always had the sleepovers when he was gone because when he was home often he was wanting to get some sleep.

Anyway it was always neat to see the way different "mom's" did things. In the era of Leave it to Beaver all my friends were kids in the neighborhood or from school that I knew for a few months before we moved again.

I remember one of my buddies had a pool in the back yard. We had 6 boys playing in the pool all day from 8:00 AM until about 3:00 and we were having a blast. Then the mom came out and asked the question "are you boys hungry" and we all realized we were starving but had been having too much fun to stop. I am pretty sure we ate all the hamburgers and hot dogs she had bought for the 4th of July party in two days. I think each of us had two burgers and two hot dogs and a lot of cookies. We were all skinny very active boys and just bottomless pits.

Good Monday morning everyone. Hey Jim where for art thou?

On one other sleepover we had at our house. We had a bulldog named Chopper that loved kids. He was right in the middle of the action with us. One of the boys loved our house and coming to visit. He could never have a sleepover at his house because his mom was a total germaphobe. When he went home he had to strip to his underwear and she would hose him down with Lysol and make him take a long shower before he could do anything. He LOVED coming to our house and laying on the floor in front of the TV watching Lassie and eating a sandwich as a dog was right next to him. He could be a normal boy.

It was good to be able to give our girl the birthday she wanted. We had given her the choice of a big present or the party.

Our goofy dog slept right in the middle of the girls downstairs. I think he was digging the attention.

So are ya gonna make a slight detour and take the Tail of the Dragon?

That would be fun with a trailer!

I-40 is such a pretty drive. That is in very green for the folks using a device that does not show colors.

Mertnin...

Just got dropped off at home from taking the Cayenne in for the wrench fest. Book says 4 hours to do intake gaskets. They think they will have it done for pickup by 4 or 5. Bet they will let it cool a bit before they start on it.

Usually don't go anywhere much, but still feels weird not having a vehicle. It would feel weird to me to be one of those people living in NY that don't have a car.

Have fun in the land of Disney. When we were there almost everyone asked where our kids or grandkids were. My wife would point at me.

About 25 years ago on our way back from Florida in a 1988 Bronco II pulling a (12' long closed up) popup camper, we went to Mertyl Beach S.C and then decided to take the scenic route to Cherokee North Carolina. We took a really beautiful route that skirted a lake, and had beautiful mountain scenery with lots of curves. I didn't know until a few years later, that we were on the full length of the tail of the dragon. No wonder everybody kept passing us, and we saw a few bike wrecks too.
