If it is any consolation we have that issue as well, but they have the correct address. They just don't send it to the right place 83.371% of the time. So around and around we go. Finally gave up. The current insurance company won't let us do any tests the specialist recommends unless we take our daughter to one of their doctors and he concurs as well, which he doesn't because he doesn't know her or her history and isn't a freaking specialist. They also want us to see a specialist in the area which would be OK but there isn't one yet they insist we see one here. Idiots. It is bad enough with our current insurance company that I have given serious thought to moving somewhere else. We used to have Blue Cross/Blue Shield which mostly sucked, now the new one is from the local doctors association and it totally and completely sucks. Like black hole forming in the toilet during #2 type of sucks. Prescriptions are now back to 30 days unless pre-approved. Bunch of shysters.

125 sure sounds a lot like a cafeteria plan. Again why not just take medical expenses off income BEFORE figuring income tax. Just have insurance send you a tax statement of your medical total they didn't pay for the year. Take that off your income.

We have some blue cross blue shet plan. blue choice or something like that. Do copays and get billed for a percentage until reach a limit then don't pay nothing. Or can do a version where you pay a percentage and when you reach your limit you get it all refunded. Ended up paying about $600 for each of my two eye operations. Didn't matter which plan I was on. All to the anethesia doctors that are charging more than the plan allows of course. When I get bills like that I ignore them until they go to collections the 2nd time and are reduced. Even with that my credit is still 820.

As I remember what my wife the HR director said was you decide how much money to set aside. Not the company or anyone else, you do. Any medical expense can be deducted, even stuff your regular insurance does not cover. It just is deducted from your gross income before any taxes. That means any item you spend it on like the deductible of a medication or doc visit is covered.

yes you a can choose how much to put in the health savings account. But if you can declare your medical expenses, why bother. An extra account is just something that makes healthcare and managing it more expensive.

It ONLY so you can use pre tax dollars. Unless you can get congress to do something logical and simple the tax code will not change. Congress making tax laws simpler and more logical will happen right after peace in the Middle East and and Bigfoot riding a flying Unicorn lands on the White House lawn.

It's like when the company I worked for went from self insured to using a company like blue crotch blue shiet. At that time they were paying 100% medical. Then they showed how much the company was saving on medical and how great it was. But they never showed you could multiply the number of employees by the premiums the employees were now paying and it was the exact same amount.

Believe you me, we are paying for the management of that "pre-tax" money with both health care costs and taxes or most likely just adding to national freaking debt.

The insurance and health care industry feed off each other. Health care charges more because insurance helps pay and insurance charges more to cover health care. Do you think companies and doctors invest in hospitals and medical practices out of the good of their hearts for humanity sake? It's a money making business. Insurance and health care are the only things that cost MORE per hour worked now than in the 50's.

I also HATE seeing drug ads on TV. It costs a lot of money to advertise and that just makes drugs more expensive. And I should never have to ask my doctor if I need a medication especially if an advertisement tells me to. To me that would mean I have a really really bad doctor. And when they say if you need help paying for a drug just call them, that just means they are charging way too much because insurance will pay for it.

Every year I contact the manufacturers of the medications I take and ask for a discount. I do it because they give me a pretty significant discount that runs out in a year. It is not actually saving me any money because my insurance pays 100% of my meds after I reach my deductible, but it is saving my insurance company money. I think having to do that is stupid too.

And not to go all parf but Hilary Clinton started all this PPO, HMO crap increasing the cost overhead of medical care by 300% when Bill was President.

OKAY, SORRY, IM DONE.

Off to play with the new smoker.

Nice

Mutual friend of Glen and I just got one of these...

He as a 930 worth a bunch of money that has been apart in his garage for over 10 years. He won't put it back together because he is afraid he would be tempted to sell it since they are worth so much now.

Would myself perfer a BMW like this...

But I don't ride, and he rides all the time.

When I was growing up BMW was the king of Enduro Highway Cruisers.

Wow! Just had a quick half hour at the hospital ED - the wound in my back isn't closing. A needle into the wound and a sample for pathology, I'm on my way with a clean dressing and a bottle of antibiotics (and a handful of new dressings to put on it each day).

Morning all. We got up early and met a couple at a local breakfast place. Burp.
I always forget how BIG the man is. He is 6'6". His wife is 5'5" and it is almost funny to see them side by side.
Next I am off the the meeting about our upcoming Porsche & Mercedes Benz car show next month. It is great to have the MB club take part. They are VERY organized and proactive. Unlike so many in our club doing just enough to get by. I have done more than my fair share for 40 years in the club. I am in coast mode. I will help, but I am not willing to work my butt off for the club. BTDT got the plaques and awards to prove it. Don't need anymore.

Hey all.

It's going to be a rainy day here. Wife is working. MIL's birthday is today so we are taking her to supper tonight. FIL should be coming home from La Hospitale Tuesday. Apparently, he is doing well and everything is looking good after the surgery.

We have a big motorcycle event in Flint and and huuuuuge car show in Frankenmuth this weekend. We may take a ride to FMuth tonight to check out the rides. The boy and I are going to mow the in laws yard tomorrow. Gotta weed whack that frikkin' ditch again as well.

I looked at a 930S Targa back in 05 in F-Muth. It had the boxed rockers but the standard front headlights. The dudes ex-wife was selling it and was asking $34,000. I was sooooo close to doing what I needed to find the money but didn't. She didn't even know how to put fuel in it so she gave me $20 and asked if I would do it for her on my test drive. Seeing the prices of the Turbos now makes me wish I would have bought it.

It would easily bring $125,000 or more now.

Happy Weekend.

Have a missed opportunity story as well. Dropped my first 944 Turbo off at my mechanics. A guy there was a fresh transfer in the Air Force that had brought his 930. It was at the shop getting a quote to put it back together and fix. He had it at a shop in Houston that was ripping him off and kept charging him but never got it fixed and the motor was currently in a box. The interior was immaculate and the whole thing had just had a complete everything off repaint, Guards Red. He had just gotten a quote to fix it or $4000 stock $5000 hot rod. And just learned the original problem was a simple $100 fix and the shop he had it in had been working on it for 2 years and charged him $8K so far was going the charge another $8K to put it back together. He was fed up and sold it to the guy just ahead of me by 10 minutes for $5000. All put together and running they were worth about $28K at the time.

Got to thinking about it and called to make an offer to the guy that had bought it for $5000. A guy that came in just after I left had already got it from him for $7K. Contacted that guy and offered up to $14K as is, but he was a notorious local 911 parts guy and saddly parted it out. Evidently in the hour between when he bought it and I called him he had already sold some of the parts off it.

Guess it just wasn't in the cards for me to have a 930.

My only consolation was I ended up beating everyone including 930s at the autocrosses with my 944 Turbo by a significant time. In fact, when I got my first 928 had both for a while and took both to autocrosses and got FTD with the 944 Turbo and 2nd with the 928 two seconds slower. Don't know what would have happened with the 930, but bet I would have been fast as I would have had the mechanic do the hot rod option putting the motor back together AND done all the suspension mods like we did the 944 Turbo to make it fast.

At the time I couldn't afford both cars so put both the 928 and the 944 Turbo up for sale and sold the one that got my asking price first. The 944 Turbo went for $15K. I had bought it 4 years earlier for $13K. Had bought the 928 GT for $23K and sold it a year and a half later for $27K after getting a brand spanking new 2001 Boxster S. The sticker was $56K and only paid $42K. They only offered me $9K for my 928 and I threatened to walk out. They took the $9K off the price without taking the trade in and I made them take some more off for the insult.
