Remember one girl I dated. She still lived with her divorced mom and they cleaned house on Saturdays. Got a bright idea to go over and help them get done quicker so I could spend time with her on Saturday afternoon. After a couple of Saturdays when I showed up to help they started taking advantage of me coming over to help and had added several non-normal cleaning odd jobs for me to do while they were cleaning house making it take all day. That's when I somehow got too busy to go over to help! I wasn't helping because I liked doing it, I was helping her get her chores done faster so we could spend time together.

I kept dating chicks that wanted me to be a mechanic and fix their car. I had a mental "price list" for different tasks, kind of a services swap. I finally gave up fixing cars for other people when I replaced the brake pads on a old Datsun, and she claimed I must have ruined her clutch by fixing the brakes. Her services were not nearly enough value to get a free clutch job out of me.

Did a valve job on a VW square back for a chick when in college. Good thing it was an easy job. She wasn't nearly as special as SHE thought she was.

Ran around with her for a while and she was always visiting friends looking for weed. She had lots of locals she was friends with that were also out and looking. The college town was really dry. Fixed her car so could make it to OKC and back without burning 8 qts of oil looking like a crop duster making the trip. Had her take me to OKC and introduced her to a friend I had run around with in OKC. After going to college found he was a major pot dealer in OKC. Didn't want to get involved in any of that so quit hanging around with her. However, didn't hear any more about it being dry at school soon after.

Don't know, maybe should have gotten involved instead of taking her. My friend made a LOT of money. Enough that he had cops on his payroll. Showed me his pride and joy one time. It was in a very unassuming storage building. I thought it was the really nice early 30's Plymouth limo, the kind where the driver didn't have a roof. But no, in the back of the limo he had some kind of really fancy looking scales that took up almost the whole seat. The kind you measure weights of stuff with. He said the scales were worth way more than the car.

When I was running around with this friend we were just running buddies. I was getting my weed from a guy that was the manager at a local Whataburger. Just go thru the drive thru order a burger, a shake, and a bag. One of my first weekends home from college I dropped by the Whataburger to stock up for school. When he gave me my food he asked me if i had heard about my other friend. Didn't even know he knew my other friend. Then he told me he had gotten popped transporting but would be out in a couple of months so not to worry. The guy at Whataburger asked me why I was getting stuff from him anyway when my other friend was a major supplier. Had to tell him the truth, it was because I didn't know the other friend was dealing. In fact, we rarely even got high together. He just laughed and said to drop by any time.

Friend of mine posted on FB that he went to vote and was disappointed because Richard Nixon wasn't anywhere on the ballot.

Someone posted that Nixon had Died.

Someone else posted that if Nixon was dead, he probably voted democrat.

This is how I feel about today...

Had a trucker deliberately try to hit me (or make me hit him) today on the highway. I was about to pass him on his left. When I got about 50-75 feet behind him, he abruptly signaled while simultaneously making a lane change right in front of me. The closest tractor trailer in front him was a hundred feet ahead, so there was no need for him be in my lane right then and there.

I had to brake to avoid rear-ending him. I was probably doing about 70, and he about 60. Halfway into his lane change he decided to go back to his lane.

I wondered if he did it because I was in the 911. Lots of d*icks out there.

On my trip back from Monterey I had a 18 wheeler move over and made me put two wheels on the grass to avoid getting hit. I had to accelerate to avoid running out of road. The arsehole trucker never stopped moving over.

I've found most people, even truck drivers, are semi-asleep on the highway, no pun intended. A faster car approaching in the mirrors does not register consciously as a car that is going to pass them. Instead it the car in the mirror only wakes them enough to realize they are just following along behind the car/truck in front and decide to change lanes intending to move up in the group. Many times, they don't even signal. Especially if it is the last vehicle in a group, and even if they have let some space get between them and the group. And it doesn't matter which lane you are in behind them.

That is why I always slow and am prepared for the vehicle to pull into the left lane when approaching the first car after an open space when going faster than traffic.

Sometimes I've had truck pull over to keep me from passing and there was a highway patrol ahead the truck was slowing me down for.

Then again, every once in a while they are just road nazi *ss wipes.

When I made my record overall trip speed from Rolla MO to OKC, 400 miles in 4 hours including stopping for gas and food on a 4th of july weekend, I noticed several times that the trucks were cock blocking traffic. As I politely worked my way to the front of the group they had created they would move over and let me go by. A few of those times the truck drivers in the group worked the traffic to make it easier for me to get thru the group. I figured I was the subject of CB radio conversations and they were specifically letting me through. Really enjoyed the extra long empty spaces in front of those groups and was most likely why I was able to make such a low average trip time. Was aware they were possibly setting me up for patrol (bird dog is their term), but had my Valentine 1 and it was always clear. I figured it was just good karma because I was not driving aggressively thru the traffic. In fact, drove overly politely never tailgating of cutting anyone off and only going fast in the gaps.

Not me!

I ain't happy with Trump. I am REAL happy the biggest criminal that is in embedded into Washington politics and above the law Hillary is not going to be in the POTUS. I really hope Trump keeps his promise to prosecute her to the full extent of her crimes. Just make her accountable to the laws she broke. If indeed she did not break any laws, fine, the trial will show that.

One funny fact, the Canadian web site for immigration went down from an onslaught of traffic. Really!

I hope all those celebrities that promised to move out of of the USA really do. I bet almost none really do. As screwed up as we are we still have a great country. What other country has the constitutional RIGHT to free speech, and to own guns. And the rest of the constitution is kinda handy as well.

One thing for 100% certainty, anyone that wants to leave will not be hampered. Take your money and leave. We have 10,000 people wanting to take your spot as a citizen.

Happy Hump day everyone.

Happy Hump Day!

I am digging this weather. The news talkers are forecasting temps in the 50's right into next week. I know the hunters don't like it but I sure do!

Yea, it is finally fall weather here. 51 degrees this morning and not maybe low mid 60s for the high. Kinda like Monterey weather. I may have to break out the jeans later next week. We might get our first freeze next week.

I hear all this crap about Obama being our best president ever and yet...

Haven't gotten a pay raise in the 8 years he has been in office.
My health care has gotten MORE expensive both insurance and cost that insurance doesn't cover.
The number of employees in the company I work for has dropped to less than half.
My company retirement contributions and 401K matching stopped.
Overall income went down because profit sharing bonuses stopped.
Income and property taxes increased effectively lowering my now frozen wages.
Cost of living, i.e. food and utilities went up.

The only thing that actually went down was the cost of gasoline. Basically lower by $0.40/gal.
I use 25 gal/month. That $10 or $120 a year in no way even comes close to what I have lost.

I make above the national average, but lower than the average household income.

Certainly hope Trump doesn't screw the US oil industry like Obama did in the name of alternative fuels.
They really need to tariff oil imports like they do other imports.
Example: It cost me $120 to import $840 headlight assemblies from the European OEM.
It would both provide the government more money (that they can use to fund the exploration of alternative fuels), but also allow the US oil producers a viable profit margin.

That low gasoline price is WHY your company had problems.

Much of that is outside the control of our government and is because Saudi Arabia decided it did not like the competition of our domestic oil production.

More than that is just too parfy.

Sorry.

Had to put an new battery in the Turbo this morning.
Dropped by because it was popping up all kinds of errors.
Battery was dropping to 7 volts under load. Surprised it was starting.

The painted grab handles look great.
Must look pretty good cause when I asked if they could tell, they picked one of the two I didn't do any touch up on.
Only took 5 minutes to replace the burl wood ones so didn't even charge me.
Only cost me $42 including the paint versus $1000 new burl wood or $240 leather.

The handles turned out so well may try painting the steering wheel buttons myself.
The hard part will be making the frisket for the words "MAN", "MUTE", and "SCAN".

A little over a month ago the company I work for rolled out an updated web site.
The web designer moved to a much better CMS, or Content Management System.

Monday the sales and support people complained that sales contacts are getting sent to their spam folder. Also that they were getting a lot more spam recently.

Their email addresses are listed as mailto links on the new contacts page!
The way they are listed they are very easy targets for spam robots collecting email addresses.

Made a recommendation to the web designer to obfuscate the email addresses.
First he said he had to look up what obfuscate meant, then said he would send a request to the IT manager.
No decision on this in 2 days?

If they are not careful I am going to quit making suggestions.
