Best fambly reunion thin I ever went to was in the hillbilly part of NE Tennessee. It was at Uncle Wave's place back in the mountains, Wave Debord was his real name. He had a old pedestal bathtub full of ice and home made beer that just never seemed to run out of beer. Also had home rolled cigars as well (both kinds of tobacco). A big departure from my local kin that were all tea totalers. One of the hillbilly kin was a preacher and it didn't seem to slow him down a bit either.
It was also the first weekend I had my 914. Had to drive around various little mountain towns in the 914 with it full of cousins so they could be seen. It was lots of fun running around with all the hillbilly kin my age. Had met most of them the year before when I was Mom and Dad's driver. I spent a week driving one cousin around in his parents car that had been in a car accident that totaled his car and it was the first chance he had to get out recovering. His parents were concerned because he hadn't wanted to get out. He was afraid of what his friends would think since he was a little slow on one side not totally recovered yet. Changed his attitude pretty quick when we ended up with a car full of girls he knew. That was a fun week too. |
morning all.
I remember reading as a kid about a spider in Auzz that would not avoid you if you came across it but would attack and the fangs could go thru a thumb nail. Yeah I really don't want to visit. |
Oz is on my list of places I would love to see. It is a pretty expensive trip. And even two weeks is not enough time to see much of the country. It would like trying to see the USA in two weeks.
We went to Sam's last night. That meant the high roller dinner for two. I can't imagine any place else that can bet the price of a meal for two, $3.03 total. Tonight is the grocery store trip and we will be done for another month. |
Oh my goodness. They found out I am scripting the nite system monitoring they have given me and having it automate managing the messages that pause or stop processes until dealt with. Makes it so I don't have to actually do anything unless there is a major failure that sends an email anyway. Seems they have the person that has been training me also watching the scripts to make sure I am doing it right and he noticed the messages were getting dismissed faster than he could read them.
My direct boss liked it because the reason they gave me the monitoring stuff is because the night IT guy left. He will be telling the higher ups about me automating the monitoring today. In the mean time my direct boss is also having me start updating all our windows servers. The last update was done 7/19/2015, ouch. |
cool Richard.
|
Richard, no no no, you are supposed to sit there all night and watch it.
So I guess you will get the night IT guy's salary added to your right? ;) |
We'll see. We have been on a pay freeze for the past 3 years and are supposed to be getting raises this month or next month with them being retro active to the first of the year. I'm not being too optimistic though. Historically they have choked on giving out too much at a time.
|
ha they will want more work from you and also give you a pay cut.
|
They claim everyone will be getting a pay raise but it might take time for HR to go thru every employee and put in the raises.
When telling me about the number of days of vacation they were paying for this month, my department head said he thought it would help since we haven't even gotten any cost of living increases in the past 3 years. I just know they wouldn't be giving too much because a while back they decided to include the local Air Force Base in the Wage Comparisons and it would mean pay raises. My department got raises but didn't get near what it would have to put them at the same level with the new comps. Got about half. The difference was about $5 an hour. |
at least you are getting one.
No xmas bonus. No talk of cola. Nothing. but welcome to a big company. |
We get a gift card to Hy-Vee.
|
we did get an xmas party that I did not attend as I had just flown on the night before and we headed back out the next day.
|
We had one of those as well. I did not attend as I don't like being around people.
I read the goofs on the IMDB for Flyboys. Seems any 13 year old can edit that site. |
Well they have had a wage freeze for the past 3 years and last year laid off 400 people. Since then have hired 50 and expecting to hire 50 more in the next month.

My nephew told me that all the the pickup trucks at the BJ auction with a wood slat bed were using his companies products.
|
Richard, that is cool that another local company is selling a product that the top pros are using.
They had a story about the Dipping Dots ice cream that is based in OKC. Evidently the new press secretary was in line at a ball game when they ran out of vanilla. He posted some angry comment and said dipping dots was not real ice cream or something. Now they want to have a "ice cream social" at the white house with dippin dots. That is the type of publicity that you can't buy. They have to love it. Good over the hump day everyone! |
morning all.3 down 2 to go!
|
You are talking weekdays, yes?
|
yep darn it.
|
Since my nephew bought Mar-K they updated the web site and it looks a lot better, but man, it sure loads a lot slower now. And I noticed they are not offering near as much stuff. It is only listing 2 kinds of wood for the bed slats and there used to be like 10 or 12 and different widths and a lot more other accessories.
Hump day? Get over it! Took Pepper to the groomers. Pepper started getting excited when we stopped to wait for a hole in traffic to turn into the parking lot of the strip mall. Her vet is next door to the groomer's. She gets excited no matter which we go to. An she heads for the door of whichever I say we are going to. She is also just as excited to leave either one too. |
