Had an employee just report he received a bunch of threatening phishing emails. It was one test email and it said his account had be compromised and he needed to change his password with a link to where to change it.

Hope I don't get in trouble for sending out threatening emails!!!

One of the email messages that the spam filter flushed was a helpful email. It said my credit card has shown suspicious activity and it had a convenient link for me to enter my CC number. I guess is one in 100,000 people bite, they are making money.

I keep seeing the emails for Viagra Pro. I guess I am just an amateur f***er so I should not try that stuff. Those all get flushed by the spam filter as well.

I start PT on Monday. I should be in fine shape by July. If not Connor will get another crash course on clutch killing.

So, does anyone use a VPN when running Kodi?

I bought a lotto ticket yesterday.

I'm enjoying my 4 day weekend even though I spent most of today pruning the garden. The kids have turned up and brought dinner with them, woohoo :D

The kids decided that our house would be a great place to host a one year olds birthday party tomorrow arvo....hmmmm yay (sortof -GS turned one yesterday )? Anyway, they've taken over my kitchen.

Good thing they brought dinner with them. ;)

Morning all. I took the day off work. It is indeed a Good Friday.

RKDinOKC 04-14-2017 08:47 AM

It is a Good Friday.

When I woke up this morning just enough of the blurriness in my left eye cleared so my depth perception has returned. At least for a little while anyway. Still pretty much blind in one eye and can't see out of the other though.

It's a lovely Friday here. Clear sky, a bit chilly, but you can't always get away with only a tshirt and no jacket.

Discovered the monitored alarm I put on my house has a delay from when a sensor is triggered and it goes off. The garage overhead door has a 3 minute delay! Then they call to see if it's a false alarm before they call they police. By the time the police get here my 928 would be long gone and that's the reason I turned it on in the first place!

Called to cancel the alarm system. They bounced me around saying all they could do was I arm the alarm in stay mode to have it instantly go off and that can only be done from the keypad. That would mean I would have to pull out of the garage, close the door, go back in through the front door, arm the alarm, the go back out thru the front door. Kinda kills the whole keeping a car in the garage and being able to leave without getting out in the weather.

After going thru several people a guy finally said they could set up a special keyfob that lets me arm the stay alarm remotely. That is supposed to immediately call the police without an delay. I could pull out of the garage, close the door, then arm the alarm in the stay mode. He also changed me a intro rate of $14.99 for a year!

I'm still wondering if the Police would respond quick enough to keep my car from being stolen. But at least the sirens will go off immediately.

RKDinOKC 04-14-2017 10:44 AM

What I would really like is to pull out of the garage, hit a homelink button, it closes the garage door, then arms the alarm. Then when I return hit the Homelink button and it disarms the alarm then opens the door. Why doesn't anybody do that?

Maybe I should make a module that does that and can sell to the alarm companies!

GH85Carrera 04-14-2017 01:05 PM

Just be sure to disable the alarm BEFORE you open the garage door if you do it that way. I have a 30 second delay on my garage door. That gives me time to pull in and get inside to shut off the alarm. I can arm or disarm it with my phone but that takes more effort. I just walk in an do it faster.

RKDinOKC 04-14-2017 01:31 PM

At first they said they couldn't put anything less than a 1 minute delay on the overhead garage door. Said they got too many false alarms waiting for the overhead door to open, pulling the car in, getting out of the car, then making it to the keypad. I know I usually start my overhead door opening a few houses down the street so it is open all the way when I get to it.

My alarm before did not have a sensor on the garage overhead door. Only on the garage to house door so the 30 second delay was plenty to make it from my inside garage door to the alarm keypad and vice versa.

Googling found a couple of discussions on using Homelink to both arm/disarm and close/open the overhead door. Seems a LOT of people would want that feature.

The only opposition I saw was that people were afraid if someone stole their car they would have access to both opening the garage overhead door and their Alarm. Some even talked about they didn't use homelink at all because they thought it was insecure. And that they didn't even clip the remote to their visor, they carried it with them.

Don't think Homelink would be an issue, because... If the alarm is armed/disarmed, I get a email notice on my phone. If I am out and get a disarm notice and find my car gone I can call the police. Also if I see my car missing could use the phone to disable homelink access. Disabling Homelink would also work if you put the car in the shop.

Whata ya think, would many people want Homelink to arm/disarm their Alarm?

I don't have any alarms. I have a lady across the street who spends most of her waking hours looking out her front window, and a big black dog in the back yard.

RKDinOKC 04-14-2017 05:44 PM

The few times we used the medical pendant panic button on our alarm the police were here within 2 minutes. The alarm company would call, and whether it was false or not the police would show about the time we got off the phone. Didn't matter if it was a false alarm or not. An officer would always come to the door and make sure everything was okay.

Since we reported to the alarm company, even though they called us, the alarm was not registered as a false alarm.

Have a 80 lb. dog, but she is more likely to try to make anyone that comes around her new best friend wiggling around and whining like a little puppy.

Morning all. We will be off to the PCA breakfast this morning. It is in downtown OKC but they actually have a nice big parking lot.
