But Richard, it is the "in" thing now to hire consultants to do all that stuff to save money!

We do hire some now and then for large projects because 2 IT guys for a 24/7/365 shop with 450 employees keeps us busy. When I say 2 IT guys I really mean 1.5, or maybe 1.25 or so. OK, me and a guy that unplugs the router to the fiber because someone, somewhere had issues connecting to something and he thought that was the best place to start.

David, our daughter sees a pediatric endocrinologist. There aren't any local here, but when my employer switched insurance companies we were told that she had to see a local one or they wouldn't cover the visit. So, when we called to say there wasn't a local one we were told she has to see a local one to be covered. After going round and round we were told she could see her doctor if she had a referral, even though she had been going to this doctor for years. So we had to find a local GP to see her to get a referral to see her regular doctor so it cost them more money than if we had been able to just continue as we had on our old plan.

She still has to get a referral for each visit, but it must make sense to someone somewhere.

%#$@%@#$%@!!! paper pushers

RKDinOKC 06-07-2017 01:35 PM

We have 12 IT staff. 4 are PC LAN support. 4 are Programmers. 4 are Managers. We have 622 employees. Our largest departments are Manufacturing, Assembly, and Inventry Management.

Porsche-poor 06-07-2017 01:43 PM

I have not a clue as to the number of IT people here. We are supposed to be over 1000 employees nation wide and growing. When we got bought out all of that info and most of my IT responsibilities went back East.

RKDinOKC 06-07-2017 01:55 PM

Went from 800 employees 2 years ago to just 300 in December. Now 5 months later we are back up to over 600.

Watched the Wonder Woman movie last night. Why to they have to change things? Steve is British instead of American and Wonder Woman doesn't have star spangled panties! What's the deal with that?

Ok all you computer geeks.........how come I can't see any of the pictures that Brent has posted lately?
One several pages back in this thread and the ones he posted in the random pictures thread just show a black box with an X in it.

Porsche-poor 06-07-2017 02:58 PM

Pete, hold your tongue to the left and your right arm straight up and then whistle and it should work. Well maybe not.

Our office has been two full time and one part time for the last 9 years. As of today there are no employees there. I will not put it all on the web but the end result is as of today I am no longer employed there. The other employees have pooled our resource and we will open a new company and no longer be at the monster garage the company has been at since the 1980s.

It is a scary to know there are no more steady paychecks but exciting to know that when we complete a new project for the clients we will get to keep the proceeds. All we need is some customers. That will come.

We already own the equipment except the airplane and the part time guy is making an offer on it. We can rent airplanes easily.

Richard, send any bills for the email service out NOW.

Sorry to hear about your job, Glen. Good luck with your new venture as go-owner of your business! SmileWavy

pete3799 06-07-2017 04:59 PM

Whoa......hope everything works out for you Glen.

RKDinOKC 06-07-2017 07:55 PM

Glen and his partner have the important stuff for doing their job...Camera, computers, software, and know how.

flipper35 06-08-2017 06:24 AM

Pete, I think it is the source the pictures were linked from. It looks like it created a temporary link. Sorry. I will go back to uploading those.

Glen, scary and exciting times ahead it looks like. Did the old place fold up and you can get that phone number?

GH85Carrera 06-08-2017 06:29 AM

We have everything but the airplane, and our part time guy is the main pilot for us. He loves that old airplane since he has spent many hundreds of hours in it and maintaining it. It is the ugliest 206 out there. It has been used as a work truck since 1965 when it was new. It has a LOT of airframe hours and the interior is trashed and matches the faded paint. He will make a valid offer for it only because we know it. We can rent an airplane for $150 an hour so it is not a critical thing. A 152 or 172 would be a great platform since they fly slower and use less fuel than the 206. We don't use the 500 pound film camera anymore so the 206 is just not necessary.

It will be an interesting few weeks.

GH85Carrera 06-08-2017 06:31 AM

We would like to get the number but the owner is going to keep it and the email and web site and hope to farm our customers at his home office in Louisiana. I can't see them flying up here to do a $300 oblique job or a $1000 orthophoto of a 1/4 section of land. We will see. No one has ever called our office looking for the owner. They all ask for me or my partner or the pilot.

RKDinOKC 06-08-2017 07:37 AM

Maybe the owner will end up doing like the other aerial photo companies you have told me about where they may get the job, but they hire you guys to take the pictures, etc.

RKDinOKC 06-08-2017 07:44 AM

Oh boy, get to go to a mandatory ergonomics training class this afternoon. A lot of managers in the company have those sit/stand computer desktops.

flipper35 06-08-2017 10:06 AM

A a low hour 152 is cheap to purchase as well.

I looked at a Tri-Pacer a while ago. They are inexpensive to purchase and they sip fuel but they are a bit light in useful load for the three of us that like to fly.

Good luck. Maybe you need a large UAV at this point?

porsche4life 06-08-2017 12:39 PM

Glen, are you under any noncompetes? Did you happen to get an email list for your old customers? Maybe an email blast letting them know of the change is in order. ;)
