We've got people doing production work on computers that are slow and out of date. Yet are buying new top of line line computers for interns that are only doing light work for the summer.
When I did the Mac side I did trickle down. I had a hierarchy of users. When we had a "new hire" the new top of the line went to the top of the hierarchy, and their computer was passed down to the next person that needed more until it got to the new hires level. With the Apple Migration assistant it only took about 15 to 20 minutes per user to do the swap and re-format. Guess we just don't have time for that now. |
Oh boy. Been reporting errors in production runs related to new software they have been working on. Despite the errors I was reporting (they said they were insignificant) they tried to go live with the new software this weekend. They just announced NOTHING is now working. Imagine that.

Anyone live in nashville?
|
Good Morning all. I made the long commute down the hall to my home office and finished up one set of "proofs" for a client that is still out on vacation.
Now I need to find someone with a printer and heavy photo paper wide format inkjet like we had at the office. I still feel like I am playing hokey or something. I can say that setting up Win 10 on a network and getting all the computers to share and play nice with each other is a real pain in the butt. Win 10 seems to think everyone is using a laptop at McDonald's on a open unsecured Wi-fi so everything is locked down. I need it to go back to kindergarten and learn to share and play nice with the other nice computers on the network. |
I think there are lots of people that live in Nashville. :)
You thinking of moving? Found out yesterday that our lab is not as good at swimming as our beagle. The lab's butt drops down and she starts slapping the surface. When you tell her she is a nut she swims normal again. Glen, have you looked at Pertino/CradlePoint to have a secure virtual LAN for your computers? |

Guy that was a clerk at a convenience store drove an MR2. Then he quit driving it and told everyone it was stolen. Then he said he had put it in storage in New Orleans and reported it stolen. A couple of weeks later he was arrested for fraud. My personal opinion, he was neither smart or street smart, unless he was looking for free room and board.

a fake dude? real men don't drive mr2?

He was one of those young know it all types.

OK, I guess I will start another thread on Pelican. How to set up a simple network that shares the folders with no passwords, no log in, no issues, just SHARE!
We fought with it for several hours and so far Microsoft is winning. It should be easy. We have several computers. All of them are running Win 10. We just want to be able to click on the network icon of the other computer and see and modify the files on that other computer. No passwords are used at all. Passwords are really stupid when you can stand up and walk to the other computer a few feet away and sit down in front of it and use that one. We need to copy a file or folder from on system to the other all the time. We can get some folders on some drives to show up and but others will not show up. |
good luck if microsoft is winning you are sunk.
