I'm not crazy like Glen. I probably would not have even gone this year had it not been for Glen. Then he bails. I think he has to buy the beer or diet soda next time.

Glen what does your wife do during your week at parade. Hint hint I need ammo to get her excited about it.

On another note she may opt out of any more chemo. Nerapathy (spelling) has set in and she is not interested.

My wife enjoys the concours for 1/2 a day and the lunch. The rest of the week we just do the driving tours. They have fun day trips to see places we would never see otherwise.

I have lots more photos from a lot if states.

Day trips would only work if I brought the 911.

That distillery pic reminds me of the 928 tour leaving me at the last stop. Had to spend some time in the restroom. When I finally got out they were all gone. Made a great Cayenne tour back to the hotel though. Cayenne NAV took me thru 3 low water bridge crossings that were almost a foot deep. It was like the Cayenne picked it's own route to have some fun. 928 group had to go around the crossings. Ended up getting back to the hotel before they did. They thought I left before the group did.

Have driven the Cayenne on 2 of the 928 tours. They were surprised I kept up without any problems. The last one I went on one of the guys brought his Jeep Grand Cherokee because it looked like it was gonna rain. He was the last vehicle and did have trouble keeping up with the group. Man, did he get a LOT of teasing about how he should have brought a real vehicle AND being afraid to get his 928 wet.

When Parade was in Portland back in 2006 we cheated and flew up. I rented a car that was a fun Hyundai. It had unlimited mileage package for the week. We took the group tours, and back then PCA made every car, even rentals go through their tech inspection. Now they figure a modern rental is going to be a safe car. A rental can't compete in any of the competitive events, but going on the drive is fine. In that rental we saw some amazing waterfalls and even drove down to see Crater lake. It was a fun week and no long drive. It still was not quite "right" in my mind and that is when I decided to start the quest to drive all the states. We have had a blast on the drives up and back and have seen a lot of amazing places in this country we would never have seen.

My wife rode with me to the Sacremento, CA: Keystone, CO; Savannah, GA; Salt Lake City, UT; Travers City, MI; French Lick, IL; and Jay Peak VT parades. For the San Diego parade and the Monterey, CA parade she flew out but I drove the 911. She let me go solo to some of the parades. Only the Portland one did I fly out.

Last year was 5,500 miles in two weeks of sight seeing. This is a big beautiful country, I still want to see a lot more of it. Seeing it with my wife has been wonderful.

I have photos of my car just 35 miles from the most eastern point in the USA, and at San Diego downtown just a few hundred feet from the border wall.

Dang bean counters!

We did a little bitty job for a company that we have 1/2 the cost of the invoice total in cost. We asked them to mail a check. The person we are dealing with works for the mega corporation. They have a team of accounts payable people that have to justify their positions so it will take a frcking MONTH to get us set up in the system for payment. OK, the contact is told by her supervisor to request credit card payment to get us the money faster. Of course that costs us 3.75% of the total.

She emailed today, it will take 30 days to set up a CC payment. WFT. So she submitted the invoice for payment with a check. Now the bean counters say the names on the W-9 and the invoice don't match. The invoice had LLC after the name and the W9 did not. So I went back and edited them to both show the comma and LLC. Now we get to wait 30 to 45 days for payment. It will not be a make or break deal but it is MY money! Grumble grumble grumble harrumph harrumph harrumph .

That sucks, Glen. It might be worthwhile to reach out to the small business owners on PPOT to see what experience and advice they will share with you. It's always good to learn from other people's mistakes/experiences.

I'm renovating my garage. It's the only part of the house not touched since we bought the place. Electrical/lighting, floor resurfacing, drywall work, cabinet installation, yada, yada, yada. And I thought retirement would be a life of leisure.

Jim, it is the same BS that I faced when I was working for someone else as a small company. The difference was it was not MY money it was the company money and I still got a paycheck. Now waiting for a month just because the customer is a big company just seems different.

We had some companies that always payed withing 10 days of the invoice. When they called and asked for anything they went to the front of the line.

There is an old saying "Fast pay makes fast friends" and companies that pay the bill promptly are much more appreciated than the folks that take 30 to 60 or 90 days and multiple statements mailed out.

So I could rent a car and then tag along at the end of the tours so as not to make the Porsches look bad..... I might get her to do that.

Yea, there are usually a dozen or more people driving rentals. I am sure you saw the list of tours for this year. I have no idea where they will go but there are some fun roads in parts of MO. At the Michigan parade the trip to Mackinac Island was the highlight. The drive up to the ferry was nice and the trip over to the island was a typical boat ride. Mackinac Island has no automobiles. Everything is powered by horses, bikes or walking. The Grand Hotel is aptly named and the best buffet on the planet bar none.

The trip in Savanna that was cool was to an old Antebellum mansion and a nice lunch. There is always lunch break. At the French Lick parade we went up to see the track in Indianapolis. We ate a German restaurant in downtown and then got to drive on the track for several laps, then tour the museum.

I don't even bother trying to compete in the events. No way in hell am I going to enter my 911 in the Concours. I drive my car and keep it really nice, but it will never be a concours car. The Rally is for people with a different mindset than I have. I like a nice drive but following sill directions at a set speed is just not my thing. The Autocross is something I would do, but the way they set it up, it kills an entire day. And they make it real hard to plan a drive when they don't publish a set time for the class I run in to compete. It means my wife has to sit out a day. Now I just skip that and we take another tour drive. Nice and laid back and relaxing.

In Salt Lake City, we went to the mountains. It was amazing to be in downtown SLC at 100 degrees, and in the mountains in 45 minutes and cold.

Last year in Jay Peak we drove up to Canada and stopped at a Apple Cider place and then ate at a local French restaurant. They had some nice drives.

I met a guy from CA that won his class at the Concours cause he was the only one to show up. He wanted me to get in on his class (modified I think) just so he would have a little competition.

Really nice people there.

There are always a lot of dang near perfect 80s Carreras. In Michigan at the Parade there was guy from Canada that had a near clone of my car. It only had 25,000 miles and was bought new by the guy's dad. It was likely in better shape than most cars when new. He had parts of the suspension replated, the insides of the fenders were just pristine. It was obvious it had not been driven in the rain. He came in second in class. I can appreciate a super clean concours car, but I just feel like it is a waste. Get in it and drive it like it was meant to be driven.

One of the Tulsa area regional members has a Carrera GT. He actually drives it. At one of the parades he entered the concours. He checked the roster, his was the only one. He had a lock on first place. He dusted it off, and said, I am done cleaning. There are usually 20 cars in my class for the concours. I don't have a chance.

Me either. I had a blast driving it and not being worried about getting it clean so I could let someone else tell me what is wrong with it.

Unless I can find a way to reduce the size of the pictures the phone took I can't post them there. The rest range from 5.1 - 8.7MB in size.

I got an email from the company that is trying to figure out how to pay us. Either a credit card payment in 20 days or a check in 30 to 40 days. The email had 10 people at their organization TEN that are involved in a simple straight forward payment of one simple invoice. They must be a HUGE company. There is little doubt they have spent more on salary at their company for 10 people trying to get this approved for payment than the invoice is for.

I feel sure they must have some valid reason. I can't image what.

Email the photos you want to post to yourself. When you email a photo you can pick the image size. When you get the email you have the photo the size you want to post.

Something else to figure out. Our email just wants to make attachments out of them at full size.

Good Friday morning all.

Welp, the old place of work is empty. They came up yesterday and emptied it out. They threw lots of good stuff in the dumpster. All my personal photos and Porsche memorabilia, is off to the landfill. Along with the office equipment that worked until be smashed into the dumpster. My coffee and Porsche coffee cups were just thrown away.

So much for that.
