What would you do....

Brother Bob helped someone move a week ago. They rented a van, but the person he was helping couldn't figure out how to open the side doors. They loaded his van. Bob drove rented van and friend drove his car. When they got to the new place it wasn't ready. He let friend take his van loaded up and Bob drove the rental.

It has been a week and the friend will not return the Van, Bob calls asking for his van back says they can move the stuff over to the rental. Bob says he needs his van. Friend tells him to drive the rental then doesn't answer his calls or texts. Bob does not know where is friend is staying or has the van at.

That's what I told him to do. Also told him to turn in the rental van so he wouldn't be liable for the rental fees or accused of stealing it.

no kidding. If the friend rented the van he might not even be authorized to drive it.

Brother Bob seems to be having some sort of spiritual crisis over his van because it is a material possession.
Somehow thinks he should not be concerned over his friend keeping it and not giving it back or wanting to move the stuff to the rental.

Told him you were supposed to go the extra mile, not give them your shoes.

And no, he couldn't borrow either one of my Porsches.

It's Morning! Greetings and Salutations.

Get to Coffee up and go on campus for the 30 minute IT department meeting. Oh boy.
Seems like since it is the IT department we could do telepresence so I only had to be presentable from the waist up, ie shirt and tie, shorts and socks.

Morning all.

My partner is of course a pilot. For fun and extra cash he flies as co-pilot on a King Air. They are 100% business mode for that so he wears long sleeved button up shirts and slacks. I went over to his house (excuse me, home office) the other day and he was about to go to the airport to fly so I told him he was out of dress code for our company. I was going to have to report him in the HR department and demand he wear shorts and t-shirt. But winter is coming and it is almost time for jeans so I let it slide. Besides we don't have a HR department.

They were flying down to Dallas to pick up the King Air's owner. A nice little 35 minute flight each way.

Got home from the 30 minute 8:30am meeting at a little after 10:00am. Doing a little better.

Usually leave at 7:05am and just make it to the 8:30am meeting.
Today I left at 7:35 and just made it to the meeting. There was significantly more traffic.
Sure glad I don't have to make that drive every day.

Some days I dream about driving a V plow to deal with traffic. I think some wouldn't realize anything happened until they set the phone on the console and it dropped to the roof of the car.

everything was fine until I undid the seatbelt then my head and neck hurt.

Only have to attend the on campus meeting maybe twice a month.

Funny - This time I farted several times during the meeting. Tried to act like it wasn't me, kept looking at the guy beside me and wrinkling up my nose. After the meeting the boss said if I was having an IBS day just call him and he would call my home office from the conference room speaker phone. Not sure but think he thought I at least left skid marks. LOL.

Just mentioned the driving time thing because when my brother used to live in Atlanta he claimed he could stop and get a 45 minute cup of two of coffee at a cafe near the office on his way home and get home at the same time as if he didn't stop. He figured he could either spend the 45 minutes sitting in the cafe or sitting in traffic. The cafe was less stressful and had pie!

Usually don't have K-9 hallway obstacles on the way to my desk. Pepper usually does her morning ritual outside while I am doing my morning ritual inside. Leave the back door ajar and she is usually behind my office chair by the time I close the back door and sit down to work.

The worst of my traffic is the male dachshund. He is black and tan, mostly black from above. We have dark wood flooring in the hallway. He is invisible at dawn when I get up. I guess after next week it will be later in the day as far as the sun position is concerned so I will not have to high the hall lights. He will HATE the time change, since it means dinner is delayed an hour. He really loves it in the spring.

Training session went really well this evening.
Worked in the back yard all off leash.

Heal up, heal, sit, crash, stay, come, jump up, down, shake, bang, speak, hello, I want it, high five, kiss, fetch, hand it to me, drop, take it.

Working on her staying at my left side on heal and sitting when I stop. She does really well on leash with no distractions so working on off leash to help her understand it's not just a leash thing.

I use crash for down because I use down to get down from jumping up on things/people. Goal is no matter where she is or distractions to crash or laydown immediately. Supposed to be so you can stop them. Say she was across the street and started to run towards me with a car was coming. Crash and she stops where she is. They claim it is easy/faster than sit. Will do stay the same way.

Bang, she lays down and goes belly up for tummy rubbing. Penny would do the bang like the down and fall over and go belly up no matter where she was or what she was doing, even in a full run. The only thing was she would wag her tail like crazy so I always had to comment that dead dogs don't wag their tails and she would stop.

Our previous pair of dachshunds we had a red smooth female and a long hair male. The female was pretty smart, and she learned to roll over do other tricks with hand signals or voice commands. The most important verbal command was stay. She would sit down and stop even if she really wanted to chase after something. The male of that pair was really sweet, but dumber than a box of rocks. He only ate to survive so food was no motivation for him.

The current pair are not stupid, but not quite bright enough to really train well. They do the important tasks. They both know passing through the gate from the back yard to the front is something that is only done with the leash and when they follow a human through.

I can take our trash cans out to the driveway from the back yard and they just watch. No hint of trying to escape.
